Vettel would blow Alonso away

I am no Vettel fan. In fact I am the exact opposite. However, I have a huge amount of respect for him as a driver and I think the stick he gets is unfair. A lot of the time people say Alonso and Hamilton would beat him in the same car. However, though I think it would be tight with Hamilton , as both are excellent qualifiers, vettel is better from leading from the front whilst Lewis has the edge on overtaking. I think Alonso would get thrashed. Alonso is a demon in the race but Vettel would hammer him in quali and sail away from the front. Although I think Alonso is a great driver I feel a lot of his great pace is from his average quali and hides the car's true pace. This year it is only 7-5 with him and Massa, Rosberg is supposedly matching hamilton at 8-4 whilst vettel has 12-0. I think Fernando would be blown away.

We wont ever get to see it as being team mates won't ever happen. So the outcome will always be unknown !

I think Vettel would beat Alonso over a season, all things being equal.

Alonso has not had a great year. Last year he was brilliant, but his standards have slipped.

Sometimes good moderation means not overthinking things.

Putting aside incumbent advantage, I'd see Alonso edge Vettel given equal machinery. I'd see Vettel edge Hambo given equal machinery.

That's just a judgement based on my instinct and I'm sure these are scenarios that will remain purely theoretical.

Not a chance on this earth that Vettel would "blow Alonso away". However, it would be close. I think Alonso would edge it, just, but give Vettel another few years and that would change. I also think they'd both beat Hamilton, but again it'd be close.

This is entirely hypothetical, of course. We saw Hamilton and Alonso together all too briefly, and there is no way we can be sure all things were equal (whatever the intent).

There is a small group of drivers right at the top of F1: Vettel, Alonso, Hamilton, Räikkönen, Button (the only man ever to beat LH over the course of a season in the same car, remember). None of them would "blow away" any of the others.
