I never believed that class 1 would happen once the Americans pulled, I think the Japanese car makers wanted to defeat the Germans on American soil.Why would Toyota,Nissan or Honda want to race against Audi and BMW in a german touringcar series?

The whole Class 1 idea was motivated in large parts - definitely on the German side, partially on the Japanese - to get the biggest RoI possible from relatively inexpensive regulations. The joint races were supposed to get more mileage from the cars and some extra exposure for the Japanese manufacturers, but from the off it has always been on shaky ground (anyone remember ITR expecting GTA to buy German-made tubs?)

DTM's reluctance to commit to NREs on cost grounds and the rumoured disappointment of the Japanese teams with the DTM chassis wouldn't have helped (you can add the tyre issue to that list as well), but I would agree that Class 1 was always too lofty a goal to reach for. We could yet be surprised, but I won't hold my breath.

If they dropped these DTM regs I'd be happy. The cars don't look nearly as good as they did before they were introduced and the racing hasn't really changed for the better because it's always good thanks to the tires and the fact they're 'GT' cars.

The racing hasn't got worse either, but that's because GTA took the sensible option and kept what worked for them. I agree in general though, the pre-DTM chassis were not only better looking but they were more advanced and varied - like an actual mid-engine chassis for Honda instead of having to fudge the [front-engined] DTM tub. However, that same advancement was part of the reason Super GT adopted DTM rules in the first place, because the development costs were rising to worrying levels but nobody wanted to back out of the arms race.

Perhaps now that Dome have successfully introduced the Mother Chassis something similar can be planned for GT500 to keep a relative lid on costs but still allow the technical freedom that GTA prides itself on.

I meant the same thing. The racing is still about as good or bad as before the chassis rule changes.

Agreed to this but right now, teams are hesitant to make wacky cars like the ARTA Garaiya, Vemac cars, and even the Shiden.

Also, I can agree that GTA did a better job of handing DTM rules than the Germans. Yet, I feel that GT500 cars should race elsewhere like Daytona and Le Mans due to being silhouette GT cars that they might destroy Ford GTs, mid-engined 991s, the list goes on for GTE cars.

Yes indeed - the race has a sneaky time certain rule, maximum 5 hours, 58 minutes, thanks to a 6:28 PM curfew.

That's a crying shame with it being the last edition of the race. What's responsible for the curfew?

JP Oliveira sets the fastest-ever lap for a GT car at Suzuka Circuit in qualifying, and Kenta Yamashita also sets a new lap record in GT300 with 82kg of ballast.

Besides #25 VivaC 86 MC which set pole position, #4 GSR Hatsune Miku AMG's result is also impressive as well. Carrying 100kg handicap but still able to take P4.

1-2-3 position for MC cars, and also double 1-2 position for Yokohama tyres as well.

According to Motorsport.com

Nissan, Honda and Toyota have all committed to field factory teams in the Suzuka 10 Hours round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge next year.

So It mean that next year they used NSX GT3 might be the Honda factory team. That might be Drago Racing or Dome Racing or possibly both merged together. And only 2 NSX GT3 in Japan for next year.

So it's unlikely for ARTA switching NSX GT3 , because Autobacs Seven which is the ARTA main sponsor and also racing project are involved in BMW dealership business by acqurireing BMW and MINI Dealerships based on the annual report and the business plan.

Stream is currently down, there's been a power cut at the circuit which is affecting most of the TV feeds. The only one I've found that is working is the Subaru onboard.

Edit - This J-Sports feed will do in the meantime.

Double Edit - Scratch that, Nismo stream now has the feed on.
