View Poll Results: Where will the WEC US round 2017 be held?
Circuit of the Americas (early September? with PCW?) 17 36.96%
Indy - plenty of history and, more importantly, plenty of run off 6 13.04%
Montreal - close enough to the US border and would serve US N-E audience very well 8 17.39%
Road America - the only right choice but lots of 'upgrading' to do to please the FIA blue blazers 7 15.22%
no US (or Canadian) round at all - the WEC doesn't need a race there anyway... 6 13.04%
somewhere else in North or South America (Brazil???) 2 4.35%

If it's for free you can't complain.

Besides, it would fit the copy-and-paste-F1-strategy perfectly well.

That would make sense if every circuit followed the same routine. But that's not the case and seems to be something this particular circuit wants to enforce (or so it seems).

Numbered seats in endurance racing is no fun, one of the best things is to roam around the track to watch the action from multiple locations. I haven´t seen allocated seats in Silverstone, Spa or Nurburgring.

Not being allowed to wander around at an endurance race would be absolutely terrible.

DSC reports:

There are plenty of questions around next season’s calendar, in particular the continued presence of the Circuit of the Americas has been very much part of the external debate. That though seems not to be the case to a major degree internally, the likelihood currently is that a deal will be done for 2017 before the 2016 event takes place.
I'll just leave it at that.

***FIA WEC CEO Gerard Neveu told Sportscar365 that the 2017 schedule will be released by the World Motor Sport Council later this month. Neveu confirmed intentions of remaining with nine rounds, but there’s been persistent rumors indicating at least one possible change to the calendar.

***Neveu downplayed talk of a new event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which has been rumored to replace Circuit of The Americas. What’s known is that the joint IMSA/WEC weekend will not continue at COTA, with IMSA having moved to a feature event in early May. The Pirelli World Challenge weekend at COTA on Sept. 1-3, 2017 will also not feature WEC, which leaves its only option as a standalone event at the Texas circuit.

Well if the previous COTA dates had poor attendance with IMSA as the coheaderliner, then 2017 is going to be absolutely brutal without IMSA there and PWC at the same track a couple of weeks earlier. I really doubt that Austin can support three major sports car racing weekends a year, with two of them being in September only a couple of weeks a part. The only question is who drops the circuit first.

Exactly that, if they think the casual fan will take WEC over PWC, the FIA has their usual delusional thinking going. PWC is good about local ads for their events, they have had digital billboard ads the past 3 years for their race with Indy car at Barber on the south side of Atlanta, 175 miles away. And they have the advantage of being first. WEC will be outdrawn by BAD hs football teams a couple weeks into football season, and their usual season schedule makes the move to a spring race impossible. And F1 being there in the fall as well can't help the attendance, although F1 probably costs more than all the sportscar events combined.

F1 may not be back next season at COTA. There is still an ongoing fight over payment....

Perhaps this is paramount to blasphemy, but I think it might suit all, to make the Sebring 12 hours, a WEC event again.

It's a great endurance event, and putting it back on the International Calendar, would benefit the event, and the series.

As far as IMSA... there is a cost issue already, with the expanded racing time from the combined Grand Am and ALMS days, reducing running time by nine hours, might be a good way to start reducing some of the track time, to try and bring some costs in line Run the IMSA 2:45 on Sunday...

I don't see how that would suit IMSA.

Sadly I doubt it will ever happen but it would be great as long as it is not a point scoring race for IMSA as well and we have 10 different podium ceremonies like in 2012.

Also it would be a great start to the season and mix up the length of the races which needs to happen to add some variety

Sebring WEC was also chaotic with more than 50 cars on track. Running without the GTD could improve but it wouldn´t be fair to them.

64 cars I think it was, in 9 classes.

They're probably still having the podium celebrations as we speak...
