AMOC Mallory April 25th

Similar weather (damp & gloomy) compared to Wednesdays general test day, but a much bigger entry. It was split into 4 sessions - Race/Pre 1960/ Road cars/Passenger rides, but most cars were out in more than one session.

Great amusement caused by the clubs 19 point Drivers Briefing, I quote:
16 'Keep everything inside the car, including arms - do not drive nonchalantly.

As on Wednesday the fastest car by quite a way was the Colin Blower run British GT4 which was only out in the race car sessions.

Astons seen were: a Zagato, 2 Vantages, a Vanguish, 5 DB4/5's, 2 V8's,
2 DB2's and the star of the show, the DBR1 than came second at Le Mans in 1959.

Other cars joining in the fun were: a 911 RS Carrera, 5 other 911's, a Boxster, 3 Sunbeam Tigers, BMW M3 / M5, 325I and 2 other non identified BM's, half a dozen Ferrari's (2 were 355's), a Sebring (posh kit car), an Austin Healy 3000, a Lotus Eclat & Exige, D & E Type Jags, a Radical, a Frogeye Sprite, a Fisher Fury, MG ZR & ZS, a Datsun 300ZX and most bizarely (but very rapid) Audi A6 Estate.

I think there was a tie for bizarre sightings of the day:

1) The 1930's Bentley Blower as seen in the photograph, which appeared on the outside of the circuit opposite Race Control, hung around for a couple of hours and then drove off.

2) Paul the Marshal at Post 6 (Stebbe Straight) seen banging a spade on the armco during one of the sessions, to scare off the ducks!!

I know BMW are developing a car that drives itself but I didn't know Bentley beat them to it!
