RaceTime should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Congratulations AVESCO - Another clash of events

From Dick Johnson:

DICK JOHNSON UNABLE TO COMPETE IN TARGA EVENT

Dick Johnson has today announced that he will now be unable to compete in next year’s Targa Tasmania event due to V8 Supercar team commitments.

Johnson was originally scheduled to drive a Porsche 993 turbo with well-known Brisbane businessman Frank Purdey in the challenging Tasmanian event.

"I’m really disappointed," Dick Johnson said.

"Doing the event again would have been great fun, but with the team’s heavy schedule for the main V8 Supercar category and the Konica series next year, I just can’t wrangle the time away."

Garry Rodgers missed a round this year with the team carrying on without him, why can't Dick?? ( I'm not saying that I agree with Cochranes' scheduling of events either...)

Start reading between the lines - it isn't only Dick that is now in trouble with this new clash.

Information I have is that Targa organisers are screaming blue murder because of the new Pukekohe date - I am led to believe that they have have an agreement with CAMS that NO other major race meeting will be scheduled by CAMS on the same dates as Targa.

I also understand that some people within CAMS are also red-faced about this clash as are 3-4 V8 drivers as they had planned to run the event in 2004 which, now, they obviously can't.

Also - besides reading between the lines - ask yourself - why would Dick Johnson have issued this statement in the first place?????

Somehow I don;t believe this issue is settled yet.

I don't see why Dick can't take the weekend off either, but it makes me wonder what blokes like Cam McConville and that will do...

Does Targa need a few V8 blow ins to be a great event?

Does Tony Cochrane have to come under the rules of CAMS. I would have thought Tony would have said to CAMS ' this is the date i want, you sort it out with Targa organisers'. Hopefully this time CAMS will get a wakeup call that V8 Supercars are not the only class in Australian motorsport.

CAMS remains an irrelevant rubber-stamp wielding pseudo-authority... DJ is important to the DJR team not for the operation, more for the support of the team sponsors, and the hosting of the Accor Vacation Club events.... no Dick no Dosh I presume...

Does CAMS have anything to do with the date, seeing as the round is being held in New Zealand (under MANZ i presume)
