If they were dead to begin with, where would be the challenge?
OK, I'll bite: Ayrton Senna. |

Senna. We were cruelly robbed of that battle - I'd just like to see how it would've panned out.
Having said that, the prospect of Kimi and JPM challenging him more each season is tasty enough in itself. Last edited by garcon; 7 Feb 2004 at 09:35. |

Do you really believe that JPM will beat Schumacher. i don't think he will win a WDC.

I think he has the potential to, yes. But, like any other younger driver, he has to carry on developing. Last season was a big step forward for him, this season needs to be too. I think there's very little between Kimi and JPM at this stage. They're very different drivers and characters, but they're pretty close on track.
But Michael's gonna win this year anyway. |

I was a fan of JPM last year. he was one of the few drivers who drives which such incredable passion, once he started to believe he could win the champion he changed and started driving during quali for a good grid possion not for an impressive fast lap and started driving for points, all addmitted by himself. it was like the sprit had gone, such a dissapointment.

You mean a bit like Micheal in Hungary and Suzuka?

Ultimately, Schumacher is the best of all at playing the percentages of winning a championship. Hungary and Suzuka saw him aware that he couldn't win the race but needed the points, and he drove accordingly. Races such as Suzuka 1994 saw him accept second and make sure he at least got those points, as they meant he still lead the championship going into Adelaide. And we know what happened there.
It seems to me like the people who criticised Montoya for driving more carefully to obtain results are the same ones who criticised him for overdriving in the past, such as Australia. I think he learnt from that lesson and won't make those mistakes again. The Senna v Schumacher battle would have been fantastic, especially with Michael having superior (illegal) machinery in 1994, and starting out with a 20-point cushion. It would've taken all Ayrton's brilliance to win through. |

I reckon Jackie Stewart would have given Schumacher as hard a time as anyone. Stewart was a clever and shrewd driver who would try and maximise everything little thing much in the Schumacher/Brawn mould.

Dream race...all in good machinery
- Michael Schumacher - Juan Manuel Fangio - Stirling Moss - Jack Brabham - Jim Clark - Alain Prost - Ayrton Senna - Jackie Stewart - Mario Andretti - Niki Lauda (that covers the "legends") - Pedro Rodriguez - Stefan Bellof - Giancarlo Baghetti (a few gifted boys who missed the chance) - Juan Pablo Montoya - Fernando Alonso - Mark Webber (the best hard chargers of today) - Jeff Gordon - A.J.Foyt - Peter Brock - Alan Jones (a few wild cards and favourites who I think would surprise) Would love to see a simulation... Interesting list deeks. Off the top of my head:
-Schumacher -Senna -Mansell -Prost -Rosberg -Bellof -Villeneuve, G -Piquet (begrudgingly!) -Jones -Andretti -Peterson -Lauda -Stewart -Rindt -Ickx -Rodriguez -Amon -Clark -Hill, G -Moss -Fangio -Nuvolari But the obvious one for Michael is Ayrton. I think that would have been very interesting! |

I also missed the Montoya "balls out" driving that we were used to, but would i rather see JPM as WDC or non-WDC? To answer your original question... JPM, Kimi, Senna, Mansell, Prost, Stewert, Villeneuve (Gilles), Clark, Fangio, Piquet the list goes on and on. But will remain, always, a fantasy. |

I think it's really good that we see the "thoughtful" driving from JPM. Yes, he is interesting with his balls in mouth driving...but i believe that he had the potential and skills to win...all he needs is to complement it with a more "mature" approach to know when do what... and that is something i don't doubt JPM would evolve.
But funny that for all the things we heard of kimi/JPM trashing Michael since they first came F1, few if any, include them in a "dream fight" race |
