New record at Curborough

Deryk Young set a new record for a double lap at Curborough today with a time of 50.32. He crossed the line doing 136 mph.

Oddly in his third run of the day, he crossed the line doing 142 mph but only got a time of 50.97.

It's taken Deryk 3 years to get his record back and I'm so pleased I was there to see it!

Well done Deryk.

That's good to hear. Deryk & Sue have been very strong at Hillclimbs this year also.

The chassis is the the Ex-Wight GR51, another notch in the belt of an already highly successful car. There can't be many cars that have taken outright records at both diciplines? Does that car still hold any outright Hill records?

Pistonbroke should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
And on Sunday Sue took something like three seconds off the Ladies' record at C'boro. Watch out for fireworks at Shelsley 19/20 August

Zac, indeed Sue Young does currently hold the Shelsley Walsh Ladies Record.

There are MANY cars that have in the past held both Hillclimb & Sprint records (mainly in the hands of Roy Lane, Dave Harris and David Franklin). The most recent one being the Gould-NME GR55 of the Fleetwoods which in Roy Dawson's hands is already mopping up some Sprint records.

The last two times I've talked to Sue, I've tried to convince her to have a pop at the Gurston Ladies Record, which I think she could monster.

This is one of those nice occasions where it's nice to admit I was completely wrong about something. I wasn't convinced that chassis would work well with that chassis. Which was annoying me because Del & Sue are both smashing good people.

As the original owner of the chassis would say "Ach, shut ye face, ye dunderheid"

Ah, forgot to finish the edit of that. Originally I put "engine would work with that chassis", when somehow "chassis would work with that engine", was more what I was getting at.

Yesh, is wash a mishtake, Thanks for pointing it out Bill Deeds

You're right though, a chassis isn't much without a chassis!

Really pleased for Sue and Deryk, they are the kind of people that makes this sport what it is. My only problem is i convinced my ma that changing the goulds engine would be too much of a compromise and we`d be better starting again ( just a excuse to build my own one) so you can imagine what she`s been saying every time they go well.
