Alan Crook should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
September Clubnight

Our September clubnight is on 10th and as usual is in the White Horse pub in Silverstone starting at 8pm. Our guest for the evening is Vic Lee.

Vic ran Vic Lee Motorsports in BTCC in the early 90s using BMWs in 1990 they won there class with Jeff Allam driving. In 1991 they won the BTCC with Will Hoy diving, this was repeated in 1992 with Tim Harvey driving.

In 1998 Vic took over Bowman motorsport. He later started Vic Lee Racing and ran in 2000 in both NSCC and BTCC Production class, winning both with Toni Ruokonen & Alan Morrison.

Vic ran the Peugeot works entry in 2001 BTCC, during the season drivers were Dan Eaves, Steve Soper, Matt Neal with Aaron slight taking in 1 round.

In 2002 Vic continued to run Peugeots under the Team Halfords banner, drivers were Dan Eaves & Tim Harvey with Carl Breeze joining mid season. Dan Eaves finished 1st in the independants Championship.

In 2003 using the Peugeot 307 he continued in BTCC with Dan Eaves and Carl Breeze as drivers, when Carl breeze left mid season he was replaced by Danny Buxton.

In Rallying Vic Lee Racing designed, built and developed the cars for the Peugeot 206 cup.

Vic Lee is currently Managing Director of Corbeau Seats.

I`m sure Vic will have some good tales to tell.

This could be a most interesting evening, shame we can't be there.

I really wish these evenings could be joined up with the bigger events at Silverstone so that those of us from other regions could attend. But that is just me being greedy.

We do try to organise evenings just prior to major races, in fact we will be having an evening on the Thursday prior to the Walter Hayes trophy meeting. That will be formally announced closer to the event.

It can be difficult organising these evenings prior to the larger meetings as sponsors want their money's worth from the drivers and teams at the same time as we would like a club night, so guess who wins.

Things can and do go wrong on the evening but we usually get round the problem with a local support. So you may not get the publicised speaker even though they confirm they are available a few days prior.

Bob, I'm just being hopeful. Even more so when you consider that I've only made it to Silverstone once this year and have not actually marshalled there this year. We even had to cancel the Classic due to my being hospitalised.

I know in the past we have attended these events (Allan McNish was particularly good) - it is just plain green-eyed jealousy!

Shelagh, I am sure you can find a friendly pub in your local area then a driver and away you go. With your contacts you must be able to get a local driver to give a talk, you do not need "big" names, some of the lesser known drivers are just as entertaining.

We'll have to get Nadine on the case. Oulton is a good hour away from us so not exactly "local".

Although we have a certain Richard Dodkins living in our village - but we tend to socialise as friends when he's not travelling the world with his cars.

And we do have the Hot Pot Supper to look forward to.
