F1's best driver line up 2016

Redbull by far.

Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen.

Certainly the most exciting one in the pit.

An interesting point of view.I would have said that until Russia the Toro Rosso duo would have been the best pairing.

At the end the best line up is the team with the drivers that have equal performance and are getting the best out of the car. So in theory even Manor could have the best line up.

That logic points to Mercedes, to me. Plus, you know, championships, race wins and pole positions.

With Rosbergs current level, I'd say Mercedes as well.

McLaren is pretty strong with Alonso, but does anyone really think Button would consistently beat Rosberg and Hamilton in the same car?

RB most exciting, but let's see how Verstappen can perform over a full season.

Ferrari... well they have Kimi who brings their punching power down a bit.

im a big believer in the skills of Button and think he is right there with Alonso but i would hesitate to pick the Mclaren duo simply because they pay Alosno so much more money to achieve the same results as Button.

i would put Merc up there too as both LH and NR have done nothing but produce which provides a great value relative to their retainers.

but in terms of value relative to remuneration and performance, i think Red Bull are getting the best deal. even better now that they have promoted MV.

if i was a team principle that would be the line up (at current salaries) that i would go for.

Button DID beat Hamilton in the same car, the only driver ever to do that over the balance of a season. Button in a Mercedes would be winning Grands Prix.

There are a lot of good pairings out there. I'm going to plump for Alonso and Button.

Well would Alonso consistently beat them either?

Yeah, a lot of great pairings out there but I'm with Adam, the McLaren pairing would take a bit of beating in most departments. It's true that in F1 terms, Anno Domino is catching up with them, so how long that remains so is another question.

He didn't beat Button in the same car, he simply ended up with more points.
End of year points aren't everything. Button also beat Alonso in points last year. It means very little as a head-to-head comparison. What you've really got to look at is race pace, and in the few years they were together there weren't that many times Button was clearly quicker than Hamilton. Usually it was a case Hamilton having a bad race, not Button being faster. Plus Button isn't really in his prime anymore... 16 years in F1 now.

Simply ending up with more points is what it's all about at the end of the day.

Come on! Alonso is quicker and more likely to bring you good results than Button.
When it counts and there is a remote sniff of a decent finish it is Alonso not Button in the frame.

However they compliment each other very well and both bring something very useful to that team at the moment. Experience.

There are several strong, balanced pairings at the moment.

Mercedes, Mclaren, Force India, probably RB in time.

Ferrari very unbalanced they would benefit from a more consistent number 2!
