At each braking for the left at chicane Dunlop, the rear-left wheel of Nissan are blocked for 20 or 30 metres on the wet!

Listening to Radio LM at the moment where they think that the track is 5 seconds slower than last year based on what the P2's and GTE cars are doing. That potentially means that sub 3:15 is realistic for pole and 3:13 an outside possibility.

GTE's fastest is only marginally slower than last year's fastest during test day (less than a tenth) which isn't too bad given the weather.

Red flag, probably ends the test day
Edit: apparently for debris, session won't be resumed. |

Seriously, is it actually a problem locally? There seemed to be packed grandstands today so plenty of interest from a presumably local crowd. |

Pecking order seems to be Porsche>Audi>Toyota.
Speed trap times continue to be confusing but in line with last year. On the Porsche's quickest laps, the speed trap time was 300-310km/h. on the Toyota's quickest laps, the speed trap time was 295km/h. On the Audi's quickest laps, the speed trap time was 320-330km/h. General speed trap time chart proved to be misleading as the best speed trap times don't correspond to the quickest laps in the LMP1 class (in contrast this is more likely in P2, GTE). I'd assume this has alot to do with the energy recovery and release strategy that each car employs on the faster laps. |

Le Mans has a population of 145000(ish), most of whom do not benefit significantly from the 24 Hours. Road closures cause a load more problems on a Saturday, when shops are open on the trading estates down the Mulsanne. There was a huge fuss when the first Classic was announced for a weekend in September and it nearly didn't take place. That's why it's now held during a holiday period. An extra day's running on test weekend would also incur additional policing resources, paid for by the ACO.
As for the crowd in the stands today, a large slice of them have race tickets, so entry was free. |

As I think a lot of people probably guessed beforehand we've come out of that test not really much the wiser.
Lots of questions. But I think in terms of relative performance over a lap the pecking order is what we expected. Toyota aren't as far away as they were on the time sheets. Neither are Nissan, albeit they had a troubled day. Audi could still steal pole I reckon but the money has to be on Porsche. As for the race it's anyone's guess. Definitely still a lot of intrigue as to what lap time they can all get down to. |

Actually it is sad that nowdays all the complainers and loudest screamers are listened too much. How much could take place if it wasn't so inconvenient for some people which have to drive like 5 minutes more. Or even need to go shopping on friday and not on saturday... (or just a week later). The worst people are those who move close to something like a football stadium, or a racetrack, or even a kindergarden and then start to complain about the noise. And at least in Germany the often win the following court fights... Just sad.

It's all hypothetical but the last thing test day needs is to be extended.
I think it was Chiana who mooted it a while ago but maybe you could bring back the Le Mans "sprint" event around the Bugatti Circuit. Or hold some other support race around there to make it a bit more of an event. You wouldn't need to close any public roads for that. |

Well, not too wet but well damp. Not very interesting despite the very good times of Porsche and Audi. I think that with very good conditions we could have amazing times. Nissan didn't run so much I thought they would have run more for development. I know they perfomed the top speed but that's all, they played in the middle of the LMP2 grid. Amazing speeding up for Audi and Porsche. I wait for dry conditions to have another opinion but Toyota confirmed their Spa perfomance unless they kept their cards hidden. But for that I'm not convinced.

For now far from the ~350 kmh needed to pass into the 3:18.
ok not conclusive, track conditions were never the best, but i wont be surprised if any of the old (new circuit format) Peugeot records will hold, qualy (3:18:8) or race (3:19:0).... or both... Porsche the principal candidate to the records, punches off into straights very fast but lacks engine to hold above in those long straights, the grip is superb and if real DF wonder if they will not have the same tire issues as in Spa The positive side is that FIA/ACO might be lighter on the ax for 2016. |
