If all the Supercars competed together it would put an end to many privateer efforts. They wouldn't stand a chance at all and it would be a waste of money and time.
The Supernationals would probably be a very interesting and popular class but I think it would be a negative thing for it. This class has always been privateer efforts and the drivers usually does most of the work themselves with buddies and family helping out. Growing interest for this class might motivate some to invest bigger money in the cars and the regular drivers with little backing could soon be gone. I can't see how it would fit either since this class is so different from FIA standards and other classes when it comes to regulations. It reminds a bit of folkrace. |

A terrific way to sign out of Lydden. Great track, great weather, great racing, and met some great people. Not too much sign of any chalk though.

As always I don't like the Touringcars, they look very unnatural with their squatted rear ends and sky high nose. I'd rather see the Super 1600's as like most road cars they are front wheel drive, look good and are quite fast too! But the concern is there aren't any normally aspirated 1600 engines that justify their presence. Isn't it time we move to some sort of R class that reminds a bit of the tuned stuff you see on the road like Fiesta ST's or Megane RS, Golf ClubSport, a 1600 or 2000 turbo engines with about 250-350 bhp?

Apart from almost being taken out by a flying Mini wheel, it was a fab weekend! I'm very sad to see it go- I don't think I'll be going to Silverstone next year.
Very pleased to see Dan Rooke do well- we were stood with his Aunt and family in the final so was very pleased for them! Not sure why they couldn't get the Group B cars out on a parade lap in one of the lulls- even if they'd just gone around the hill, it would have been nice. If anyone passed a filthy bright yellow hatchback in the parking, it was probably mine! The trip down wasn't kind to him! |

Will Lydden Hill really disappear from World RX calendar? I haven't heard anything about that... what is the reason behind it?

As you will see on another thread, the reason is a few things.
Lydden has poor access, one route in to the track on a very busy road. And mainly facilities, they built a new comms box a few years ago, but there is nothing else. The track is OK I guess save for the awful loos sections and joker lap, but compared to other venues there is less space, poor everything really. But as you will see on the other thread, forget paying less than 30 quid to see rallycross in the UK now, Silverstone are making rallycross, a not much more than posh clubman sport dearer on the day than Goodwood, MotoGP, WEC, and a premier league game. I find that utterly astonishing, embarrassing and rather rude. |

No probs chunder, i must admit i was surprise how little gravel there is now, its not far off becoming a full tarmac circuit now. Hope they are planning to put most of it back at sum point.

I think they might now WRX has gone, less gravel means less issues around differing gripa nd less watering.
When you have teams spending millions they want an equal playing field and gravel, therefore dust prevention means you can't have a level playing field. Modern dirt is OK, it works OK at Barcelona, and I think Silverstone is using the same stuff, not that anyone on here will be going lol! |

In Sweden they salt the tracks and in Höljes they are very keen about not letting the gravel get too dry. They take care of the gravel long before the RX weekend and are very active during the weekend, even at nights I think.
Other organisers should really take a look at how they do things in Höljes. |

Very much so guys, the fact they have so much of this kind of thing in Sweden and Norway means they should be leading the track prep at every round I think.

The group b cancellation was a shame, as Pat had handed the keys of the RS200 to Liam, who was keen to have a go at pushing the rs to the limit. But unfortunately the two accidents robbed us of time

Was just watching a dodgy Nigerian rip of the coverage
Interesting Wilks talking that the track is nearly all tarmac, they ahve laid asphalt pretty all over it, only areas that are loose are off line, and the joker exit, the rest is all asphalt. And it was battering the tyres. Nice job LH |

Are we sure VW are not running 1600 engines?
Their cars rev significantly higher than anything else out there |

It is the same engine that is in the GRC Beetle, and that one is a 2000.

Yes, it's a 86x86mm engine. But I would love to know more about this engine. We know Petter spent a lot of money on his Pipo engines, so for him to be satisfied with these they need to be very good indeed.

Yes, me too! I suppose going from Pipo to Lehmann? What will be the base? TSI/TFSI engine or one of the older series? Perhaps a diesel block like Larson and Jerberg did? I guess a VAG diehard could spot it... |

Is the real message here hinting at the potential to split the series? WRX and RX2 and then ERX. Not for all events but maybe for some....

I did hear at the WRX round at Lydden that IMG would sell the rights to the European championship for £2million!
