Strange thing with the 4 FPR Falcons

In practice 2, three of them are in 2nd, 3rd and 4th, but Bright is in 23rd.

What is going on ?

Traffic/poor tyre sets/wind/balance problem/component failure/traffic etc.

Mr Caruso is doing a great job... in practice.. this weekend. Wonder what's changed for him? The other Nissans aren't quite so strong, in fact they bookend the field...

There are very few at this round. If the corporates wont come to the only Sydney Supercar round, there is something to discover about this event.

Especially when the main sponsor of the green PRA squad is based quite literally just across the road from the race circuit...

Nissans always do a great job in quali, the race is a different episode though.

TK must rue the day he left Holden, hasn't done a thing since sadly.

I really liked the time that this race was run at.

Hell, once they get the lights put up, they should run a 300km race that runs from day into night.

having part of your car besides part of the car in front, can be an inch or in the case of yesterday almost the entire car

after the apex of the last corner and before the start line (control line)

At EC this a long way from the last corner

They are talking about it on fox sports 6. Scott was good about it, he said that its the adjudicators job to do what they see fit and he still has orange stickers on his car. He didn't comment on Shane's penalty.

cheers thanks. Havent seen anything yet on other sources, would drop scott back to about 23rd and about a 40 point drop. I thibnk it would lift chaz up to 4th in championship

No worries. I think it only just happened. They had a restart for the F4 race and Murph talked to Scott during it.

Once this race stops I am sure they will be all over it.

Lowndes just said that Shane was pinged for overlapping before the green flag was shown. If thats the case then his penalty makes a bit more sense.

Van Gisbergen, McLaughlin cop time penalties


Shane van Gisbergen and Scott McLaughlin have both been handed time penalties this morning following an investigation into a controversial restart and a further review of their turn 2 clash in Race 17.

Van Gisbergen has been hit with a 33 second time penalty after an investigation showed that he breached the restart procedure.

Under Supercars rules, drivers are permitted to overlap before the control line, but not until the green flags are out.

McLaughlin meanwhile has had an 18s time penalty added to the 15s penalty he received during the race due for his contact with Van Gisbergen at turn 2.

If you can overlap like SVG did, does that mean the whole field could theoretically start double-file?

As long as you don't overlap before the green flag, then potentially yes. But you can't do what he did as he got pinged.

Double file restarts probably wouldn't practically happen though as that would rely on all the cars in front to be a bit sleepy and the cars immediately behind them to all be on it.
