Pro Racer should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
3rd tier series in V8 Supercars in Australia (NZV8's)

could we have a series the same as the NZV8's supported by V8SA, as it is more affordable than the Fujitsu series and easier to drive for the new commer's and as it would be supported by V8SA it would make it easier for a stepping stone into the Fujitsu series and then into the main game.

Arguably the existing third tier series is either the utes or Carrera Cup. I suppose you could find a way of running hand-me-down 2nd tier cars but they seem to go to state series currently.

We should be condensing the plethora of categories we already have, not adding more categories with limited entry requirements (ie...another two make series)

Especially as there is already the likes of Commodore Cup, V8Utes, Formula Ford etc etc that have already proved adequate as a stepping stone into the Development Series....and if thats not enough there is the AMRS Touring Car Challenge to be used as well to get some V8Supercar experience.

What are the chances of this one-make Mini Challenge mentioned in Auto Action getting up and running?

i watched V8 Giants on #9 on saturday and really enjoyed it maybe if someone gave this series exposure and get it into supporting Supercar rounds and it would take off as it looks affordable can gain V8 experience as they have ex Supercar's there and you can choose pretty much whatever car you like.

i especially liked the VK Group A hope to see more there soon, wouldn't mind getting into this category one day myself.

isn't the commodore cup classed as the 3rd tier?

They recently upgraded to only running VS and VTs havn't they?

What about the saloon series, although they were still running VPs (and EA's/EB's) last time i seen them

So, hang on... The V8DVS was set up as a stepping stone into the V8's... Now we need a stepping stone to the stepping stone of V8's?

Whatever happened to the good old days of Formula Ford to V8 Supercars...

Never happen in a million years......unless VESA decided they wanted the AASA to sanction their races rather than CAMS.....

Probably quite high based on the NZ Mini Series success. It would pave the way for a Trans-Tasman Mini Series - 7 rounds in NZ and maybe 7 rounds in Oz!

Commodore Cup run VS's and the older spec VK i think it is...no VT's that is Saloon Cars with AU's and VT's the newer models

pwr fan,

Cracking idea and would be a huge success in Australia and we already have half of the Series with Commodore Cup! Just need someone to build a ford in similar spec to commodore cup car and away we go.

I know that many will say bugger another v8 class but it would provide a cheap alternative as well as provide a school for not only upcoming drivers but race mechanics and potential engineers etc which are thin on the ground.

Wayne Wakefield, Lee Holdsworth, Marcos Zukanovic and others have advanced from CCup to Supercars and although I think FF is a good proving ground as well I think this would be a decent alternative???

We have Commodore Cup as a V8 stepping stone before DVS, Carrera Cup and Utes as well. We don't need another category in Australia. It is already oversubscribed and many categories struggling as it is with finding maximum cars. I have nothing against NZV8's but we imo we don't need them. We have a DVS and look at Macrow who won in 2006 but no main game ride. What's wrong with what we have? We need to get away from V8SC anyway

I think a few people switched on to the possibility of poaching international talent, or Aussie talent overseas aka Ambrose, Courtney. That and i guess the rising costs mean the teams probably want a more reliable driver that wont be learning to drive the car around 31 other guys.

The reality is that bang for bucks the Supercar Development Series is ahead of the NZV8's. With a $200k budget to run one car (Doesn't include the car, transporter etc) for a season midpack its hard to see the value in NZV8's. Costs are out of control in the class.

why build a NZV8 from scratch when you can race a used ex v8 supercar already developed by a pro team?
