They did, for a while ... from the article:
"A dabble in GT racing followed in late 2015, running an Aston Martin for two events out of a downsized shop in Ormeau, Queensland, under the new Ross Stone Racing banner."
"It’s a far cry from the 60-strong workforce the Yatala workshop hosted in 2012 before the Erebus takeover. Erebus leased the building from Stone before the team moved to Melbourne at the end of 2015 and, with a short-term tenant recently vacating, the time was right for RSR to move in."

SuperUtes set for Townsville 400 unveil

Will be good to see, hopefully put a few worries to rest (or create more)

If that's entertaining to you it proves that lap times aren't as important as you bang on about constantly.

Well if you go to a race you do indirectly pay for the supports as it's part of the event you're buying a ticket for. That is if you go that is.

Not trolling at all. I've seen you dismiss many peoples thoughts on supercar options due to lack of speed yet here you say these are entertaining.

Clearly the point being, speed isn't directly related to entertainment like you constantly belittle people with.

That's irrelevant as it doesn't matter if the supports are paying to be there or not you still pay to see them via event entry

Seems like it's taking shape now it would be great if all 6 manufacturers are able to compete next year

I believe they all can, its just if someone wants to race one

But yes, it would be great if someone wants to race each type from the start

Wow that's pretty solid.

I just wonder if the action will get anywhere near as spectacular as the V8Utes were.

I had the joy of being over in Texas with one of my buddies, and after watching the Supercars at COTA, went looking for more Aussie racing and went crazy for the utes - loved the sound and the taily action of them...

But the tradies are driving Mazdas & Mitsubishis now...

The last time the predecessors of these types of utes raced the series was extremely short lived. I'd say most people would struggle to remember it.

The market for these type of vehicles has changed significantly and hopefully might create some interest. Let's hope so.

It was a series based on the 1980's American "mini truck" series, from memory they used Glenn Ridge as a celebrity spearhead, I think it only ran for one year, if that, failed to garner much interest, everyone was much more interested in the v8 touring cars and the "wild" Sports Sedans of the era.
