I'm doing the test! Unfortunately the missus is working on friday so the first time the stove will be fired up will be pre-qualifying NW Round 1! I'm slightly worried bluenose and co will be unvailing newer models of grilling equipment, such as a converted George Foreman, with data logging! Still, you can't beat the good old frying pan can you

Alright Ian. It was a funny old day yesterday. The track was dry but there was a slight drizzle all day, just a few specks of rain on your visor as you are caning it into island is not what you want to see, but the grip was there most of the day. I was doing decent times around the international on knackered tyres which was very promising. the best was 1:49.2. Now the afternoon was a different story. I went out feeling pretty confident, but ended up struggling for 4's. Then the drizzle got heavier, and on my old tyres i couldn't get any grip whatsoever and was starting to get ****ed off. Then the track dried and we finally stuck some new rubber on it and the times came down. My best on fosters was 1:04.0
GDM - tell Neil the engine went well. |

Well done Ste you were a second up on my times on both lay outs,I could only get a 1:05 but I was still pleased with the cars performance. We just struggled for power as the new engines have not arrived yet but to get out on Fosters was great I would love to go back again today. The circuit grip was good as Ste said just bits of rain I ended up covered in oil as a few of the winged things were spraying oil out the back as I went passed (never wipe your vissor with oil on it)I like the new pits and stuff its totally changed.

I was the same as Blue Nose mostly.
Morning was great, although the car felt very alien when i first went out after 5 months out of the car!!! Got down to a 1.50.1 on the full circuit which was the same as Blue Nose. I think a 49 was possible but as I got to the point where my confidence was right, the rain came down. Sat out most of the rest of the morning as no point in damaging the car on the first pre season test. After lunch it was still trying to rain - in true Bolton style - Peter Kay would have said "It was that fine rain that soaks you through" Did about 7 laps and did a 1.05 then a seal in the clutch went so had another hour out while UCLAN changed it. Then ran out of fuel....... and then my coil went (brand new) so that had to be changed. I then did about 15 laps and was tired so did not really enjoy it so came in. Useful day, but a bit annoying. Steve is defo the man to watch. He must have done 200 laps and all were there or there abouts. We just have to wait and see how young ian gets on!!! David Marshall had the only accident of the day I think with an off at the exit of Druids where he hit the wall quite hard and hurt his knee. But spoke to him last night and he is okay but just very bashed. Last edited by Redracer77; 27 Mar 2004 at 10:25. |

Not as many drivers as expected. Drivers I remember are -
Steve Roberts (50-SIX) Me (Redracer77) Alan Pike (Blue Nose) David Bailey (Swift) John Swift David Marshall (David Marshall) Neil McArthur Mike Mullins (MikeM) Chris Walsh (Walshy) Mark Chadwick Paul Gerrard Sarah Minshaw Guy Minshaw Gary Jones - in a Medina Zetec Neil Griffin Matt Howson - in a Infinity Kent car Unknown driver also with Infinity. David Franklin Seamus Wild - Wild by name wild by nature!!! Martin Cowburn Plus a number of exceptionally slow Arp and Classic F3 cars..... The nicest car of the day must have been the Lotus F2 in Golf Leaf livery - beautiful. Diz has all the gossip and track talk as well as all the times and he will post on Sunday night as he is off on a dirty weekend at the moment.... |

There are a number of people.
For cost effective car set up then Matt Rivett has just started a mobile racecar set up operation. He will come to your house with all the gear and set your car up so it is spot on. If you want someone to run your car then again depending on budget you should speak to - UCLAN Racing - Nick Johnson Infiniti Motorsport - Duncan Webb Mike Waite Motorsport Medina Motorsport - John Loebell If you want numbers then please PM me. On the driver training front. Time in the car is your best bet for a couple of tests as confidence will come in time. If you want good personal instruction then - Dave Hart is a good bet along with John Loebell. If I were you I would go over to Anglesey with Dave Hart on an empty circuit and he can take you round in a saloon car as well to show you the lines. Good luck for 2004 |

The only one I know is that Mike did a 1m 58 in the morning but I am not sure in the afternoon. Didn't get chance to speak to the Minshaws to see how Sarah was getting on.

We did most of our laps in the morning on our special testing tyres ie the ones that are the baldest and hardest.
Disappointed not to get under a 1:52 but put that done to me driving like a granny and the tyres plus the weather plus (can't think of anything else at the moment). Afternoon much better, decided to bolt on some new rubber for what was to be my final session of the day. The only problem was that by this time I was totally sh--ged out, but I managed a mid 1:05 this despite looking at the sky whilst negotiating Druids because I couldn't hold my head up! |

Sadly Hugh told us that this was the last black dog day at Oulton this season. He is running one at Anglesey on the 16th April (I think, not sure), but can't attend as we will be preparing for Silverstone.
Blue nose, you were right about the F3's dropping oil, we were getting covered every time us ff1600 boys lapped 'em! |
