The Kents weren't too bad, just when it got very interesting, it went sour at Druids. Shame, it could have been anybody's at that time.

For the Formula Ford Duratec I would suggest a new name: Formula Ford Banger Racing.
What could have been a nice event was turned into a sad thing by some of those drivers. Red mist? Guess they don't even have a brain nowadays anymore.

I for one was happy to see the race red flagged, as I had 1 serious and one normal off at that time. The second driver went off at Paddock under yellows. To be honest, I do not know why he went off.

But it should not happen, there are sometimes marshals out there, helping.
In the end it seems that many drivers, even if they hail the marshals often, too often they forget about them when it is really needed.

Was the guy alright Eddy? we could see the three brave men or women in orange tending to the driver still in the car.

I was worried for the marshal who slipped as he was retrieving bodywork in the Kent final at Druids....thankfully he fell just off the track and got up and scuttled away.

Am told Calum got a 2 sec time penalty for not being within correct distance of safety car. When I left last night discussions where still ongoing but one of my photographers stayed to the end and got shots of Tandy getting his trophy.

I "met" Jason yesterday as I was marshalling at paddock and assisted him after he landed in the gravel trap, from what he said then he hadn't had the best of weekends but he was very calm about the whole thing even though he must have been very frustrated!

In fact I got to "meet" quite a few drivers yesterday and they all remained very good natured despite how some of them arrived at our feet!

I had a really great day and I congratulate all the drivers, it was a shame that the finals ended as they did but with a driver requiring medical assistance the correct action was taken.

Kartingdad,

If it was the same as last year it was upto each driver to contact each team and pay a fee for a session. Prices ranged last year from £200 to £400 a session of 20 minutes (I think). It is upto you to book as many sessions as you want with any car types or teams you want to try.

It worked really well last year even though the weather was dreadfull!!! I think we were the only team to go home with both cars in one piece!!!

Yeah John, no problem. He had hurt his leg from the enormous impact (his second that weekend there).
The state of the hut however is not so good, another broken window in that crash.

Was a disappointing end to both finals, but the Kents were fantastic while it lasted.
For some reason I switched on my digi camera during the lap when the Dempsey/Boyd collision occurred and have just downloaded it.
The quality isn't great and we were on the Druids bank, but here it is if anybody wants to see it. (Sorry for the reaction!!)

Now looking forward to the WHT. Let's hope the weather is as good as it was for Brands over the weekend.
Cheers.

youngoldy has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Does anybody know if the kents will be showed on Sky and if they are, when? Thanks.

And enough talk of the Duratec final, this is the CLUB FORMULA FORD area of 10Tenths (to me that is Kent's), come on mod's, surely you can spot that.

You won't see the Kents or the Duratecs on Sky. There will be some Duratec coverage on Motors.

Isn't Motors on Sky?

I was told that you may be able to see some Kent stuff on your TV screen. Watch this space.

Anyone know a good optician, I can't see any mention of "Club" in the title of this forum?

Okay, Motors is available on the Sky platform but it is not a Sky channel.

As far as I am aware there are no plans at this point in time for TV coverage of the Kents.

Take no notice Asp, it's only Tufty going off on one

I suppose though that the Tuftmeister might have a point, as Duratec thinks of itself as being National, whereas the Formula Ford Forum was originally set up AFAIK to service the needs of the proper Formula Ford people when the FF1600 traffic on appeared to be at an all time high. This was in the days of the infamous FF1600 website when the Snowman had everybody buzzing, but I suppose that is for another thread.

In answer to your other point, try Stuart Jones Styling Opticians, King Street Manchester. He will do discounts for his fellow Formula Ford people [Kent only ] and our marshalling friends.

Just like last year the red mist appears the word overtake is suppose to mean you around someone not over them i really hope he was punished that was not a racing incident

From the video that has been posted up to me it looks like Wayne ran wide at paddock and Peter got a great run out of paddock . He had the speed to go by him and wayne drove accross in front of him leaving Peter with nowhere to go . Just my two pennys worth anyway .

Whut?
If that's Antoine's video shot from the exit of Druid's, looking at an acident that happened on the run into Druids.
I was within 20 feet of what happened, wearing a bright orange suit and still have trouble recognising myself on the vid.
How the heck you can apportion blame for the incident then is completely beyond me.

Go to DWA's home page and look at the pictures in his FF1600 gallery. (124 onwards ) I was within 6ft of DWA.

I've looked at DWA's pics.....to me it looks like Peter touched the right rear of Waynes car with his left front, and was launched airborne....after that Pete was just a passenger.....such a shame.....

I do know that a linkage had broken at the rear of Peters car before the incident, hence the drop off in his lap times that allowed Wayne to close back up. Just a few laps before Pete had a healthy lead, and I thought for sure it was in the bag for him

All of the discussion here before the Festival on the decision to ban previous winners (which I understand was reversed) is a reminder of previous 'bans'. I came across the photo below on the net recently and research on the other site came up with these answers. It is Michael Schumacher in an Eifelland Racing Reynard, testing at Hockenheim in 1990, with a view to doing the Festival. The test was also filmed and photographed for a feature in the German 'Rallye Racing' magazine.

At the time Michael had just won the German F3 Championship for the WTS West sponsored team, but wanted to do the Festival. He had previously contested the Festival in '88 in his Eufra Racing Van Diemen.

As he was the champion of a higher catagory, his Festival entry was turned down, although the eventual 1990 FFF winner Dave Coyne was allowed in, despite winning an EFDA F3 series a couple of years earlier. Coyne v Schumacher would have been a great battle and as Marcus Simmons points out, Coyne was in contention for the Jordan drive a year later (when Gachot was forced out) and Schumacher got the seat instead resulting in his stunning Spa qualifying debut.

Yeah that's what made him appear to have out braked himself IMO

How do you know a "linkage" had broken? Assume you mean the top toe adjuster?

Hi John

Cameras I know a bit about.....Formula Fords I don't

I helped Pete get the car off the transporter back in the paddock, and he found this linkage (there were 2 side by side on the top of the gearbox) that had broken (RHS). Is that the top toe adjuster then..? Might have learned something today after all....

My thought would be that I don't think Pete was sufficiently off the pace before the accident to have a linkage broken, and, considering the accident he had just had, I would think it more likely that the component broke in the accident.
