Dessert [iV8SC12R27&R28] Winton - 16-18 Nov

The penultimate round... sounds all kinda fancy huh...

Well the main game field wanders away from the most expensive racetrack they race on... to go to... well not the most expensive racetrack..

The Melbourne teams, and the Traveling Alburies, call Winton their test track, their friend, their home base.

The circuit itself calls for plenty of chassis balance, and drive out of the corners...

Anyone wanting a lazy punt on some HRT magic coming to town? #2 specifically, but #66 might be a podium shot?

Weirder things have happened...

Look at average finishing position vs qualifying position for both Will Davo and Dave Reynolds and I think you'd get astronomical odds of that happening.

The difference between speed and results is stark.

all 3 are in the top ten in the championship, two are in the top 4, they'r on their home track, all 3 have been on the podium at least once in the last 3 events(only about 7 drivers can say that)

The stars will align

Better than anyone elses guess

This could be on of those rounds that does not favour T8 this year.

FPR will be up there. But also if i remember correctly Bright had a victory on Sunday.

Frosty to win

Looking back through the results, I don't believe FPR has had much success at Winton.

Sure, the odd podium here and there, but no wins.

I think that cars 2, 22, and 66 will figure strongly.

You'd think that, judging by that post, but no.

Nobody said you had to be a fan of any given team to make an educated punt.

Well your guesses are certainly looking up with co driver Cam McConville filling the role of Driving standards observer for the weekend.

McConville replaces Mezera as Driving Standards Observer for the weekend

Why not Greg Crick?

Too rusty? Too inconsistant last time out? No longer qualified? No interest?

Anyone who is NOT affiated with a current V8 Supercar team like he is with HRT.

Yes Crick, John Bowe, Glen Seton, Larry Perkins, Jim Richards!

JIM RICHARDS is most qualified person available as he's not FORD or HOLDEN but CHRYSLER.

I actually think McConky will do a good job and will be impartial.

But..............................................................................

I won't matter if he is totally impartial and does a fair dinkum job of it, because on here he will be castigated if it goes against a ford or if he doesn't slam a HRT driver.

and theres the problem, I'm sure he could do a good job, he has the experience, but last month he was being paid by HRT (maybe even this month) and therefore has a conflict of interest

Lets face it the Race Director, IPO, DSO & Stewards are effectively given a poison challace and on a flogging to nowhere.

It's so easy for on line critics who have the advantage of multiple replays and hindsight to get stuck into them no matter if the decision was wrong or right with the info they have at the time.

I think this has been covered on here in the past so do a quick search.

Seeing you're asking about next year wait until this weekend is done and dusted and ask the question again once the dust settles.

A quick summary though, lots of great viewing spots all around the track, walk around and find your favourite.

Camping at the track or Benalla is less than ten mins away

The Chalice is even more poisoned when there is a lack of independance.

Are you suggesting that the Race Director, IPO, DSO & Stewards dont have access to multiple replays? Would have thought they had more, they have the in car cameras and the data that we rarely see from
