Just to pick up on the straight line speed issue once more, TouringCarTimes released an article on the topic comparing top speeds from qualifying and all three races.
http://www.touringcartimes.com/2014/...m-silverstone/

Now to me that raises another question. The Hondas apparently can be near the top through the speed traps in the slipstream of other cars. Did they try slipstreaming during qualifying? And if they did, how can the much lower top speeds be explained?
And of course why is Plato so far down the order and still able to win two races if his car sucks and is only fast because of its engine?

There are some interesting facts in that speed trap data, its pretty accurate regarding Aero efficiency apart from the motorbase cars , The Focus isnt a good straightliner so they must be working with a real torquey motor .

What is interesting is the Toyota variation and the difference between new comer Hines who shouldnt really have been quicker than Cole due to Hines being on base boost .

For me it shows something isnt quite right in the formula and I still think the boost should be set it terms of a straightline test in the highest ratio avail to cancel out the straighline moans, now all cars with the same top speed would make it pretty level and show the hand back to those teams good at chassis work

Even more interesting is that in 2013 Frank Wrathal was top speed in Quali at 138mph ! why is his old car so much slower !

I think something has changed a lot !
