Your Personal Podium

Sorry... I'm bored.

If you had to choose your top-3 all-time favourite ChampCar drivers, what would your list look like?

For me...

Alex Zanardi, Rick Mears, Al Unser Jr.

My dream podium would involve just me , a bottle of Moet and some grid girls

But if I had to throw in a few drivers (blast Macdaddy and his rules !!!!!!!!) I'd say.

Nigel Mansell
Alex Zanardi
Jacques Villenueve (before F1 got to him)

Greg, Juan and Pat would do it for me.

Honourable mention to the old USAC days and Danny Ongais (before his accident). He was really special to watch making that Interscope car fly around Mosport.

Moore & PT are a close 4th. BTW, I blame OWRS/CCWS for giving us such a great race in Denver and then leaving us hanging this weekend!

Alessandro Zanardi. He absolutly personifies the meaning of "a winner" to me.

Greg Moore - because HE defined "grace under pressure", he died at 24 never winning a Champ Car championship, but he would have, I'm sure of it.

Paul Tracy - for his steadfast love and loyalty to CART, when ALL of us (yes ALL of us, including ME) swearved or felt sad. That man NEVER swayed.. To the man that invented the word "crapwagons!!"

I would say:

Scott Goodyear
Bryan Herta
Patrick Carpentier

As long as I've been following CART, those have been my 3 favourite drivers.

Hmmm...I guess I don't really have favourite drives. Sure there are drivers who I like more than others, but I don't really choose favourites. Most of the drivers I like are are the younger guys whose careers I have followed for the past several years. Bourdais I've been amazed with for the past few years, and he's doing exacty what I expected him to do last year and dominate the series this year. Nothing but respect for Bourdais. I also love Almendinger. I think if he were a Newmann Haas driver he'd be right up there with Bourdais and Junquira. I think Almendinger would have a great chance in F1 given a decent ride. Definitely one of America's biggest prospects. Scott Speed too, but thats getting a little too much off topic.

I'm surprised the older champs havn't been on peoples favouirte podiums. If you look at Zanardi, Montoya, Moore and Villenuve they have been racing in CART in the last 10 years where as the guys who I voted for were in the last 20....!

It's inevitable that an internet forum will attract "younger" votes, and that a British-based forum will be skewed to the Mansell onwards era of CART.
