Are you a millionaire? I think most would 'prefer' this car over the LFA.

Nice photos, especially that M1.

DSC has a headline about Porsche withdrawing factory support from the VLN... any more details? Does this also concern the factory drivers that have been racing around the place in the VLN and Nurburgring 24h? (not subscribed (if you're reading this mr Goodwin, sorry), can't read the article)

Apparently Porsche and Manthey are fed up with the way BoP is handeled at the Ring and in GT3 in general, so Manthey will keep on fielding customer teams, but the yellow-green flagship car with the factory drivers is probably gone (along with the hybrid).
Rumor has it, Manthey will do WEC next year. |

Rumor has it that Manthey will become the new semi-works effort for Porsche in the WEC.
Olaf Manthey said they´re looking to do stuff on an "international level" from now on...so that may hint at that as well. |

A team with the excellence of Manthey will surely be welcomed to the WEC and of course the Le Mans 24 itself, but a huge loss for the Ring. |

Because let's face it - Olaf Manthey knows how to play the BoP to his favor (24hours 2010, anyone!?) and if the Porsche was indeed that crippled, how did it do an 8.04 during the last VLN race's practise session!? Even having Marc Lieb in the car doesn't really explain how the oh-so-uncompetitive GT3R went faster in its last race than ever before... |

If we see that emblematic color scheme at LM, I wouldn't be that sad. However, it's a shame to lose such an icon of the N24 and VLN after so many years.

Doesn't the ACO have troubles with equalizing front-engined, mid-engined rear-engined, high-revving, turbocharged and no-replacement-for-dsplacement cars as well?

Anyway, Manthey might be a better option for Porsche than Felbermayr. Or perhaps Felbermayr will do the 2014 LMP1 programme? |

Well, GT-Masters raced on the Kurzanbindung of the GP-Strecke this summer and they did times around 1.26, that is however for the full lap, which you don't have in the VLN configuration as you turn on the Nordschleife before the final turn and the main straight. So that part probably accounts for something like 1.15 (give or take a bit).
My best guess would therefore be somewhere in the high 6.40s or low 6.50s for the Nordschleife only... |

Couldn't expect a better news,isn't Manthey the first team to run a pair of 996 GT3 R at 1999 LM24 and also the first one enter 2 997 GT3 RSR@2006 Spa24?
If the rumor is true, very likely Dumas,Bernhard and Luhr will race for the team and even no longer drive Audi P1. Anyway Haribo and other Manthey branches,Frikadelli,Pinta and Falken will again run GT3 R at VLN/Ring24 in the future.Maybe Kremer will pick one or two real GT3 R next year, too. |
