The engine will be badged as a Honda.(the only reason the LMP2 engine in 07-08 was badged Acura(blue) was because Honda had plans to make Acura a Tier 1 Global Brand but those plans was killed Dec. 08) The bodywork will be badged Acura. |

So.... We have three cars of one make that are really good, a couple mazdas that find ways to lose, and then penske comes in with another make and races those 5? Sounds similar to p2 penske Porsche vs 3 acuras vs 2 dyson Porsche/mazdas..... This could get reallllllll good....

And Penske/Honda is still pushing for no brand bodywork needed to run your own engine.

There was just about as many Audi styling cues on all their LMP900/LMP1 cars (even the last generation R18) as there are on some of the DPI cars. The same could be said about the Porsche 919 (though it looked like crap when they went with the LED headlights). However, the Toyota LMP1s don't have any identifiable road car styling cues.
But even Audi and Porsche included some road car styling cues into their racing cars, even if it's just the headlight design. About the same as some of the DPI cars, I might add. That's more than NASCAR, where the cars look largely alike at a distance aside from Ford, Chevy and Toyota decals and headlight stickers. |

Rumor is that Honda will have a new Sports Car in 2018 to celebrate their 70th.
So badging the Dpi a Honda is a clue to the rumors being true about a new S2000 in 2018. |

Can't find a Toyota without the decals on it, but you can see how heavily the nose is sculpted like the road going variant, and how different it is to the Chevrolet. |

YMMV, but I think the Civic grill would lend itself even better to the narrow grill on the later 905.

That said, ACO prototypes since ~2012 haven't been pleasant to look at either, so if you wanna pull that card... |

Yeah, I could actually see those cues working well in the front. Might be Nissan-type fugly, but would work nonetheless.

I would think that the Civic Type R, would be a more likely candidate.

No it won't. Listen. I don't want to be blunt, but, whatever you've heard is completely wrong.
This car will be a Honda, with Honda styling, with a Honda engine, and Honda stickers and Honda colors. ACURA IS NOT PART OF THIS. End of story. |

So. Marshall Pruett, and many others have been told wrong as well? Like, told wrong by the organization running it, and the motor company itself? Dude. Don't even. You'll just be embarrassed. |
