Lotus scales back

With Dany Bahar now gone, looks like Lotus are keeping things simple for the time being with all but the Esprit canned. Plus it appears that Lotus will be continuing to outsource their gearboxes and engines. 50 engineers have been sacked as a result.

Here's to hoping Lotus can find it's way out of this mess.

To be honest if I was going to do anything with the Lotus car line up I would of had it like this:

Elise (Roadster)
Evora (Coupe)
Esprit (Sports Car)
Exige (Track day car)
Saloon/Hatchback built with the Carlton (Omega) and Cortina in mind. (Something like an RS, Evo or WRX)

The luxury saloon was the one that got me. While I know that Lotus has worked with saloons in the past and there is nothing wrong with trying different hings, the Eterne felt too much out of Lotus's character.

I think if they wanted a saloon then I think something like a Lotus version of a Proton or an in house design to go against the Focus RS or Astra VXR with the ideas of the Carlton would of complemented the line up nicely.
