Driver Of The Grand Prix: Spanish GP 2016
So who was it for you?
Hint: Any vote other than Max Verstappen is wrong! |

Sainz. Got his best result in F1 - showing he's dealt pretty well with Max being promoted ahead of him.
Verstappen did well but should have finished 4th really - the two Mercedes handed him a couple of spots and then Red Bull made a mess of Ricciardos strategy and that gifted Max another place. |

Daniel Ricciardo for not throwing a dummy spit like Vettel did.

I voted for Sainz.
Not to take anything away from Verstappen, but all 4 could have been 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th. He was in fact a bit lucky it turned out he had the better strategy. Ferrari's lack of speed in the last corners and the fact it is very hard to overtake at Barcelona helped too. Sure, he didn't put a foot wrong, but neither did Ricciardo, Vettel or Raikkonen. Circumstances were on his side, and he made the most of it. I'm voting for Sainz because he will probably be overlooked again. A very good qualifying, a very good start, a consistent race, and he beat a Williams and the remaining Force India. His own best finish, and Torro Rosso's best ever finish at Barcelona. What more could he have done? |

I choose Verstappen as well for this one. Awesome move after the start on the outside of Vettel, a solid first stint and a great one resisting the pressure of Raikkonen for the second half of the GP.
Great drive from Sainz as well in front of the home crowd. |

It has to be Max Verstappen. He was under hell of a lot of pressure from Kimi but didn't crumble and he gets my vote for that alone.

in fairness everyone benefited 2 spots from the LH/NR incident but for me it came down to Kimi and Max but Max gets the edge for me.
winning from 4th is huge accomplish at this track plus his age plus first race on a new team. a sporting fairy tale! |

Sainz.
Great opening period, superb defensive driving, no argy bargy, still finished in the top 6. Verstappen won the race in consummate fashion and made the headlines but I think we all know it was Ricciardo's race and the 3 stopper did for him. Max isn't 18 it's a joke!!! |

Has to be Verstappen. Yes, he was lucky that Hamilton and Rosberg tangled but he showed great coolness and speed to make the most of the situation he found himself in.

Raikkonen for his consistency, keeping the tyres alive and not doing a stupid move like he did with Bottas last year

Well there was only one possibility. And he isn't called Rosberg or Hamilton . I'm surprised only 80% have voted for him.
Why Kimi? That was journeyman stuff. Dan? I understand the admiration, but in the end he didn't win, and Max did. Sainz. It was a good result, but it was over-shadowed on the day. |

Max, qualified a car he had not driven before on 4th, resisted all manner of pressure and dragged out the life of a set of tyres to win. Perfect!

Max. When he stood in the car and offered his hand to the boss, outstanding!
