Onboard Footage - Historic FF Qualifying & Race from Silverstone

Hi All,

On Saturday, I was lucky enough to fit one of my companies brand new 1080p HD onboard video/data loggers onto car #57, the Lola FF1600 driven by David Wild and run by Neil Fowler Motorsport, to capture some footage of qualifying and the race.

I have uploaded this to YouTube and thought that you all might be interested in seeing it.

Paul Lawrence's brief report follows. A broader report will be on our HFF website (and video of course) at some point when time to spare!

The final Historic Formula Ford 1600 Championship was an absolute
barn-stormer as a superb 34-car grid delivered another fabulous race. In a
blanket finish, former multiple champion Neil Fowler (Lola T200) beat former
champion Callum Grant (Merlyn Mk20A) by 69-thousandths of a second with Mark
Draghicescu (Merlyn MK20) right behind. "There was a bit of peer pressure
from within the team to do this weekend," said Fowler, who last raced
regularly in the category in 2007. "I've had some great races but that was
awesome," said Grant.

That it a protest going in for running a data logger in our series ;-)

That was part of 6 - 7 car train for most of the race and certainly a great end to the season. The edited race vids for the end of season race should be a good watch.

Dan has started.

There were great battles all the way through the field on Saturday, apart from where I was

Drove a solitary race around 12th-14th while the gearbox disintegrated, but then there's always next season.
My onboard is here if anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NBjvlmYZFg

I was interested Sam, Our video-in-chief Josh Barrett would be too unless he's already downloaded it. I've just done a race report and hope I've included your 'boring' bit! Alex Meek must have been a help to kill the boredom though.. Well done for your position and I hope your gearbox gets better. A bit of tender heel & toeing might help a little!
See you out next year. DD

Cheers Dick. I've already passed a copy of it along to Josh, hopefully some of it makes the cut I was enjoying defending from Alex but it was a battle that ended in frustration. It would have been nice to finish the race in a straight fight. IMO my heel and toe technique is fine, the issue is more that the box likes to jump out of gear under braking, and sometimes when accelerating too The box was in dire need of a rebuild when we bought the car so it's no surprise that it is giving up the ghost now as it never had that rebuild! Winter jobs now

The HSCC Historic Formula Ford
Championship Finals Meeting Silverstone
Saturday 18th October 2014
Going into the last round there were a number of positions to the
Championship that could and would be decided, it really didn't help
that there were so many people wanting the same ones!
How did it end? Well, here's HSCC Mag editor Paul Lawrence's brief
description of our race...
“The final Historic Formula Ford 1600 Championship was an absolute
barn-stormer as a superb 34-car grid delivered another fabulous race. In a
blanket finish, former multiple champion Neil Fowler (Lola T200) beat former
champion Callum Grant (Merlyn Mk20A) by 69-thousandths of a second with

pressure from within the team to do this weekend," said Fowler, who last
raced regularly in the category in 2007. "I've had some great races but that
was awesome," said Grant”.
