Joest Racing

Joest Racing won Le Mans 7 times

(1) 1984 Porsche 956
(2) 1985 Porsche 956
(3) 1996 TWR Porsche
(4) 1997 TWR Porsche
(5) 2000 Audi R8R
(6) 2001 Audi R8R
(7) 2002 Audi R8R

But he also ran the winning Bentley in 2003 , and I think he was also involved in the Dauer 962GT as well . Im trying to find out if there are any other Le Mans success stories that involved Joest behind the scenes ?

I hope they will be back soon . Sportscar racing just aint the same without the biggest name in the business .

It's especially not fun watching their performance in DTM these past two seasons.

Old cars this season. ABT build the TTs on there own in the past, so they have much more knowlege about DTM cars.
Also hope they are back @real racing soon.
DTM is nothing more then german Nascar ( i am from germany)

Lots of German-speaking crew in green in 2003...

What involvement did he have with the Dauer 962GT ? Did Joest run those too ? I have heard it said that he was spotted in the gagage .

Teammanager of Team Bentley was Ralf Jüttner.

And he is known as long time manager of Joest Racing.

In 1994 Porsche had no Worksteam, so Joest does all the business. Dauer himself so had no race team, he closed his in 1991, so complete staff including team management was Joest.

Easy there mate!! Let's not give Joest too much credit for the Bentley victory!! All testing and development was done by RTN.

The Joest boys simply won the toss when they were deciding who got which battery at Le Mans.........

1984 Sebring-Heyer, DeNavaez and Johannson (car came off display in a museum )
1980 Daytona 24 Hour-Merl, Stommelen and Joest himself

both 935's.

I don't know where to get photos, mine suffered fire and water (not at the same time), but maybe Hugewally who visits here can point to them?

Joest Porsche 935

There are a few shots of the 1980 Daytona winner on the net.

As for the 1984 Sebring winner wasn't able to find any but here is the same car at the 1985 Sebring. The car was #48 in 1984 and did not carry the Red Lobster sponsorship

You may want to try contacting these guys at:
http://mascalemodels.mind2k.com/index.html

They have quite a few rarer models and may have access to the decals for the 1984 Sebring car.

Why not doing some rally also beside sportscar / touring car racing ?

If you look at Oreca, it works.

Audi certainly learnt a lot from their rallying when it came to designing the R8's modular approach to components...
