I think there is still a hangover from people with dinged toys too.

Hopefully CAMS spend a bit of time looking at their internal system and how such a directive could have been made with so little consultation in the first place. Last edited by Tourer; 5 Jul 2017 at 01:48. |

Interesting story? Hell no. No news, no insight, just filler to justify running a fan dream livery (albeit a fan who is involved in the industry) They would have been better off just putting the render and a caption IMO. |

Hopefully they do now look at those processes that Axeman mentioned; and realise that CAMS are there to work for their members, not to screw them over. Who knows, we may look back in history at this day as a watershed moment in the governance of Australian motorsport.* *I doubt it |

They gave Scott Yorsten a few free plugs, might as well give Tim some love and drive a few clicks for the advertisers /sarcasm. Shame it wasn't gloss black though

Yeah but was Richo pushed by someone else? The footage doesn't tell enough unfortunately. Good race with plenty of action Hope Bates can get it fixed in time for SMP in six weeks time. Amac certainly made a good choice in using ye olde 997 then the Huracan. Second big crash for that car this year. |

Leaving track at 6pm tonight they seemed well along on repairs to Bates car such that they clearly aim to have it running tomorrow.

Was the low-ish numbers that the AGT races have at Townsville perhaps part of the the push to ban these cars from anything other?

Possibly but could also be due to previous damage not yet fully repaired, additional cost of going to Townsville, who still had a chance in the overall series results, "gentleman" drivers dealing with EOFY in their own businesses etc etc.

Adelaide had nearly 30 starters? Where have they all gone? Especially seeing as there was that big hissy fit chucked by some quarters at the start of the year to get races on the VASC calendar... |

True - the 30 cars from Adelaide have probably gone where grids often go in semi-pro or am categories - parked while the owners do other things. It might also have something to do with that hissy fit you mention - maybe some owners aren't feeling the love so are utilising their discretionary spend elsewhere, or saving it for the B12H or something.

It is interesting that it was the competitors who were the ones pushing for the move to Supercars rounds because of the exposure and television. Disappointing to see once management supported it - the competitors havent followed suit.
In particular 2 teams at the front of this push was Tekno and MPC who only delivered 1 car in Townsville between the 2 of them. The crash damage associated with the street circuit events must also be a concern with these type of vehicles. I wonder if the lower entries are also a result of the Endurance and Sprint series splitting the same customer base. The same 30 cars at Clipsal are probably still there but not many can do both series in combination. |

That hissy up-ended the 2017 calendar, to make sure events like Townsville were put on the calendar... how could the owners not be "feeling the love" given they had their wishes granted, and then don't front with their cars....

I think that the lack of "feeling the love" (if I'm right that it contributes to lower entry numbers) will be more about ego in what is a discretionary spend for many of the owners. |

I would suggest that time and timing, as well as expense, had a lot to do with the entry at Townsville.
EOFY would not suit many of the entrants. Townsville, because of the long haul nature getting the transporters there and back consumes both time and money, commodities that even the most well off of the Gentlemen Racers have to consider, is a big commitment. Add to that the Street Circuit nature of the venue which can make a minor off into an expensive rebuild and you have a good case fore not going. One practice and qualification as preparation time for 3 40 min races also ls not very good for guys with limited regular seat time to set up for a rather different circuit. Personally I think playing second fiddle to the Taxis is not the best option for GT. |
