View Poll Results: Where will the WEC US round 2017 be held?
Circuit of the Americas (early September? with PCW?) 17 36.96%
Indy - plenty of history and, more importantly, plenty of run off 6 13.04%
Montreal - close enough to the US border and would serve US N-E audience very well 8 17.39%
Road America - the only right choice but lots of 'upgrading' to do to please the FIA blue blazers 7 15.22%
no US (or Canadian) round at all - the WEC doesn't need a race there anyway... 6 13.04%
somewhere else in North or South America (Brazil???) 2 4.35%

I don't count for much but did buy tequila to support ESM, before the cut and ran, and actually still get Patron products over others so that's one guy buying 2 bottles a year. So maybe enough for the valve stems on two tires

I'll admit to wanting to buy Patron, but looking at the price and deciding on something cheaper. So I'm not helping fund the valve stems.

I think, I think it was already. It just took us this long to realize. To get used to the idea.

Nurburgring date is confirmed:

Strakka leaving the series for Blancpain:

(might they be back in GTE in a couple years time...???)

@mods: can we merge the two 2017 WEC topics please?

Great interview here on dailysportscar with the leaders of the WEC and ACO. A lot of things discussed here and a confirmation at the end of the article that Peugeot are in talks with the WEC for a return to lmp1- with a hybrid.

Goodwin timed that well - he's just said exactly that (potential Pug hybrid) on MWM.

I'm not sure why that's all that surprising to some. The last LMP1 Peugeot developed was the 908 Hybrid4 and more recently Peugeot has started pushing hybrid diesel road cars. With Audi gone, Peugeot would have the diesel EoT (if they are looking at entering with a diesel) all to themselves, which can be an advantage or an excuse depending on results.

I think it's nothing new, but there was some statements by Bruno Famin about a lightweight prototype sans the hybrid. But this statement seems to indicate the opposite.

I referenced that story in asking the question - a live programme with a lightweight non-hybrid was completely denied

How the time flies, they already stooped development (production?) of their diesel hybrid.

Would be nice to see a new manufacturer in Lmp1-H but the WEC will still be great even if it does not happen.

P2 is an awesome category set to become even better (seemingly) with the new rules and the GTE classes appear set to be stronger than ever in 2017.

Silverstone, Spa and Le Mans may benefit from extra entries from Porsche and Toyota as well.

Diesel in road cars is basically dead, it's not a future-proof technology and I highly doubt anyone will start a multi-million dollar LMP programme to advertise a technology that will have disappeared in 8-10 years time.

And as far as Peugeot being "in talks" is concerned, they've been in talks all the time, it usually ends with their "it's too expensive" complaints

Next year GTE gets a little bit less fun. Real time adjustments in boost for turbo cars based on atmospheric conditions.

http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/w...tments-in-gte/

This seems like really trying to equalize things too much. Where do they go from here? real time adjustments in tire pressure to the rest of the field if one car gets a puncture?

You couldn't make it up, does anyone at the ACO actually know what they are doing?

http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/2...-under-debate/

Of course speeds and laptimes were going to be faster.

So they announced the 2017 P2 rules saying the cars would be faster. Now they realize the cars are faster and are thinking of slowing them down. What? That was their stated intention!

That title is spinning the actual content of the article. The author did a nice job with that I read the article and it's basically a rebuttal to the slowing them down. It says that the drivers are saying it's easy to drive and the high power is in the high rev range so it's not harsh getting on the throttle. It's more a "wait and see" rather than a "they're too fast".

However you read, count on slowing down measures, probably after the prologue and/or LM test.

If the new cars are too much of a handful for some Am's, they should improve their craft in P3 first before considering a step up.

How I'd love to see Toyota and Porsche running three cars next year, full season... Though we all know that's impossible.
