saw this article in the fairfax papers

Why you can't miss the 2017 Bathurst 12 Hour

interesting comment (possibly just selling a story)

Quote:
Last year's event also featured a game-changing crash in the opening minutes of the race, when the Lamborghini and Ferrari of Nick Percat and Mika Salo collided before dawn. Neither admitted fault, and neither got a gig for this year's race, suggesting that team owners take a dim view of ill-considered driving.

It was a boneheaded bit of driving, given it was on the second corner of a 12hr race, difficult to apportion blame given the footage available but I think there was blame on both sides and it was certainly avoidable.

Im weary that the 12 hour ratings may not have been as great as hoped last year (never seen any ratings for it, which is usally code for not that great). to keep Ch 7 engaged in the 12 hour it needs to build a bigger fan base this year, hopefully that is achieved
Agree completely

SVG: GT3 ‘easy’ for Supercars drivers

Yeah no doubt going to fire up a few people, but in my opinion he has earnt the right to have his opinion. Supercars don't have to deal with multi class speed differentials or light transitions either.

What else would you expect a factory holden driver to say, if it wasn't for supercars holden wouldn't a category to play in.

Given that GT3 regs have always been aimed at the amateur right from the conception of the formula, the cars are certainly easy to drive for the pro's in comparison with something like a V8Supercar. SVG is on the money.

That doesn't mean the racing isn't competitive or the racing isn't any good though (not that SVG implies this either, he's obviously a fan of driving the GT3 cars)

Weather, tyres hold key to Nissan B12H chances

Seen this a few times now, has been the same way at the mountain since the sierras

Heat and turbos at the mountain are not an awesome combination

its only taken a year, but finally the 12 hour begins with the first practise

a 30 min session for amatuer drivers only (not sure what that means for the prop team, however there are a couple out there)

A time around 2.37 is need to meet the 130% cut off

P1 is over

Ingall is the fastest, one of only two pro teams that took the track (P1 Excluded Class A Platinum & Gold Drivers)

Looks like everyone got through the session, might be the first time ever

Everybody looks well within the cut off

GT4 are the easily the slowest class, although the BMW is the slowest vehicle

3 MARC cars in front of the 1 st class B porsche

P2 starts soon, all drivers can take part

Wish the live timing could pop out and fill the screen, showing everything instead of having you have to scroll to the right to see the makes of the cars

it is cool, just got to get used to watching it. Reckon it needs to further to the right.

Reckon they will get a handle on the driver names by the end of the day (I hope) because its messy

Local knowledge coming in handy for some
