It would make more sense having them at odd ends of the championship.

Bernies 'interest' is more than likely the reason.

One in March and one in November, and with a bit of luck it will rain for both.

Well they'll have to do something to make them more interesting...

Well, Marbot, some Spanish fans would also prefer their two F1 races a bit more separated, so they can enough time after Montmeló to save money and go to Valencia. And I defend their cause

Btw, in Valencia it only rains in autumn. The rest of the year is very dry.

So Valencia in the autumn and Barcelona in late February/early March.

In fact the FIA should seriously consider having F1 has a winter series.

The season could virtually last all year, starting and finishing in the Southern Hemisphere, with a break for Christmas and the New Year. F1 used to race in Argentina and South Africa. Is there a viable track in New Zealand?

Nope - Their newest track, Hampton Downs, is designed as an FIA Level 2 track, capable of hosting pretty much everything except F1. I'm sure that could be changed, however.

They could also revive the old Wellington street track, perhaps?

Er... one thing is FIA GT cars, which can get coupled with one of the three Argentine touring car series. But Potrero de los Funes is too far from even mid-size cities, and the Buenos Aires circuit is useless for an F1 race. They don't have that much money to make another top-grade circuit.

They couple F1 with V8 Supercars at Melbourne.

And despite the stated remoteness of Potrero de los Funes, they had something like 50,000 on hand last November.

There are plans at D3 Motorsport Development (same crew that planned the refurbishment of Mexico City and is responsible for the circuit at Surfers Paradise) to bring Buenos Aires back up at least to Grade 2 standard.
