Phoenix1 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Pizzonia testing/drive

Shame to see the Pizzonia was not at Silverstone, was he anywhere at all? Also anynews on a 2005 drive and will he now become, should he stay, the third driver above Gene?

i think his only hope of a race seat next year is if jenson button stays at BAR...if that does happen they'll be no time to find anyone else, or the top guys will be taken, so williams will have no choice to run him. not that i think they'd be too unhappy about that as they seem to love him in grove.

Pizzonia can't be a third driver for Williams, this year or next.

Under article 58B - the teams third driver must

Quote:
...not been a nominated driver for a Formula One team in more than six World Championship Events during the two previous World Championships.
His Jaguar and Williams racing experience means unless this rule is changed in 2005, he can only remain as the tester.

Ricardo Zonta's third driver role is also in jeopardy under this regulation, unless he doesn't compete in at least one of the remaining rounds.

I suspect we may see Jarno Trulli do at least one of the remaining races, with Zonta just doing Brazil.

Toyota have already announced Zonta as their Friday tester for next year.

Which is a bit of a giveaway unless there is a rule change ahead

Though personally I think Trulli should focus on next year and not drive the uncompetitive Toyota outside of a test track for this season...and just wait and see what Gascoyne digs out next year.

Toyota could always run Briscoe for one race...or 'do a Renault' & sign up Damon Hill for the last three

DKGandBH has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I'd love to see Briscoe in for a race...

Easy to say, but not exactly music to an F1 driver's ears. I'm sure Trulli would rather race. The Toyota is not a Renault but it's no Minardi either.

Someone here can't count. Hungary, Belgium, Italy, China, Japan and Brazil equals six - the regualtion says "not been a nominated driver for a Formula One team in more than six World Championship Events during the two previous World Championships." - in other words, 6 races is fine.

I was just thinking the same thing, Boots.

I still think we may see Trulli do at least one race this year though, but I expect Zonta will do Brazil.

(from ITV-F1.com) "Toyota insisted that Trulli will have to wait until the start of next season to make his race debut for the team."
Guess he'll just be taking it easy until then - unless its another lie from an F1 team!

I can count! Since I said 6. Just didn't really pay much attention to the actual rule. I think I've been using >= in my equations more than >.
