For those that may have missed the programme on BBC 1, they filmed the recent trials with the Pacific Class continuation loco, Tornado, to establish whether it was safe to travel at 100 mph. The Trust that runs the loco need to demonstrate that they can run consistently at up to 95 mph so that it can be used on the main lines to pull specials and not get in the way of other track users. The previous speed limit of 75 mph for steam locos was deemed too slow for the train to be allowed on Network Rails system on a regular basis.

No doubt the programme will appear on BBC iPlayer shortly.

Apparently a steam fan was killed when he fell under the train as it passed through a station, but at least he died happy.

He was chuffed to bits.

We had a great run back until Eindhoven. Over two hours stuck and then the French police with two motor bikes escorted me to holding area . Grrrrr. Then two hour wait for ferry. Did have fun while we were waiting . Couple of polish guys with van had flat battery. Most of the truckers that weee waiting for ferry then joined in trying to bump start this van . They had no luck . I then took control and using my lithium battery jumped started the.van . Britts to the rescue.

Went up the local pub yesterday and a mate turned up in a Brough Superior ! and I mean "in" I honestly didn't know that there was such a car as I only knew of the motor cycle.
Just had a Google on Wiki the one he's got is a 3.5lt with a side valve Hudson engine.

Maybe they were there to escort little Macron back from Berlin, clutching his instructions from Mutti!! Apparently the tutorial was lengthy, meaning that he was going to be late back to Paris for his bed-time story from teacher!!

(With apologies to Gerard!)

No worry John, I could write worse about… I asked myself the same question as John Morley. Are we sure its french police in this part of Holland rather far from the sea or any harbor…*Or mini-Holland and Mutti have already change the borders

For those that comment on the amount some histeric racers spend on trucks, motorhomes and other kit, as well as a race car or cars, I suggest they check out some track days to see how to spend money!

I'm at Spa and there was a general track day on, and another tomorrow. Stuff today included two transporters full of Ferrari 488s or whatever the latest toy is numbered, and more mechanics than most race teams!

BTW it was 28 C in the brussels area today, 24 C at the circuit. Likely half that by Sunday....

I think Look East said it was 23 in Norfolk today, about the same here. Looking a bit stormy at the moment though.
