could be, has it been spotted recently at Road Atlanta?
The non participation at CotA was announced back in March: http://sportscar365.com/imsa/tusc/de...eason-program/ |

Me! And all day Friday too. The weather forecast says High of 90 so I'm looking forward to it being a couple degrees cooler than where I'm at now.

Fall Line withdrew their car. One of the drivers was injured in a road accident, and I guess it's his money paying for everything, so they're out.

In WEC practice, ESM ran a 1:58.1 with an ACO spec car (less power, less weight, Dunlop tires). I wonder what'll happen with the IMSA spec car later today (more power, more weight, Conti/Hoosier tires).

Out of all the tracks that IMSA goes to.
This track is the best place for the P2s. |

How do you come to that conclusion?
The three main flat-out runs are all preceded by slow-speed corners, which will favor the torque of the DPs. This track doesn't have many long-duration, high-speed corners, like Mosport has, and the main one, that mirrored copy of Turn 8 from Istanbul, has that series of kink-apexes to it, which makes side-by-side running through it much more difficult. Yes, the P2s will enjoy the esses, but the DPs will be in front by that point on the opening lap, and the P2s won't be able to get back by them through there, probably. |

Well, "feeling it out" has Alex Brundle ahead of Johannes van Overbeek, but even Alex is 1.1-sec off of the mark set by Richard Westbrook.
EDIT: Now Johannes has gone just a tad quicker than Alex, but is still a little more than a second off of the leading time. |

So, the first session ends with SoD up front in DP, ESM leading P2, the Porsche factory squad leading GTLM, and the TRG Aston ahead in GTD.

How did the times compare? ESM ran a 1:58.1 in the first WEC session.
Even Westbrook's time was over 2 seconds slower than the leading WEC LMP2 time. So that shows how much off the Continental tires are vs the Dunlops in the WEC. |

First Practice times.
IMSA "Prototype" Spirit of Daytuna #90, 2:00.306 ESM #2, 2:01.338 sixth in class. Oak #42 , 2:01.406. seventh in class IMSA GTLM Porsche #910, 2:04.844 First in class. For comparison, here's the WEC times. P1 #1 Audi, 1:51. 136 P2 #30 ESM , 1:58.111 GTE #97 Aston , 2:06.399 It is interesting that the ALMS GT class times are significantly quicker than their WEC counterparts. Were the track conditions more favorable during the IMSA FP1 session? |

There is slightly different bop between the wec and IMSA gt classes. I'm not sure what the difference is between the Porsches though
