The circuit looks good but who's the designer? And also, is it possible to race there safely since there are some terrorist groups lurking across West Africa?

interesting news about a potential wec race in Africa.... and from there it would be a relatively short trip to a continent ignored by other championships. Of course tire (and driver) temperatures would be an issue there but im sure michelin/dunlop could figure something out.

I doubt the heat would be any bigger issue than at Bahrain, or at Sepang where it's both hot and humid.

Actually, it looks like a damn good track. Turn 1, 2 and 3 are great as well as the area from turn 14 to 19. Turn 11 also looks fun. Certainly better than what Tilke or Alan Wilson have come up with in their circuits.

well too much heat certainly would be an issue there (in Antarctica XD). Most of the "population" there consists of scientists, so im sure it would be an ideal place to show off the hybrid tech. from the heat of Africa to the chilling cold of Antarctica. sry im tired

And Antartica will probably have better parking and circuit access than Silverstone.

As soon as I saw the layout, I looked at turns 1, 2 and 3. Reminds me of a reverse version of the flat out turns on the F1Track in Turkey. That would be a great track to run, wonder if they could take those flat out in an LMP1.

Well, at least we have great new international circuits like this...

And the FIA and track designers are doing a great job with preserving the character of classic circuits...

Although many of the reasons for the fall of Kyalami were very different than tracks being butchered for Bernie's Circus such as the Hockenheimring.

It looks a little wider and faster than the Turkish Turn 8, I'm sure the R18s and TS030s would have little to no problem going flat through it.

To be honest, it's a shame Dakar has a track like this but South Africa doesn't, I'm really curious into who designed the Dakar circuit, despite it being flat looks like one of the best new circuits I've seen.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tilke designed it.

Would typically have it listed on both his site and circuit's site. To be honest, for all his criticism Tilke has produced some decent race tracks. Sepang is fantastic, the new A1 Ring produced some of the better racing in F1 and had some great corners although it was nothing like the old circuit, India is great, especially the last two sectors. The Turkey atmosphere was about as exciting as a Sunday Mass but you could say the same for places like Laguna, Istanbul Park itself was fantastic. I love Motorland Aragon as well. I think a lot of it has to do with the FIA and F1 rules that are VERY specific in Track Design. Tilke has designed some horrors like Valencia, Abu Dhabi and Shanghai to name a few. Some of his new creations like Austin and Moscow don't look promising.

But which major company has done better as of late? Considering their main "Highlights" are Barber and Miller, I wouldn't say Alan Wilson, The Populous redesign of Silverstone is horrible IMO especially with Grandstands where you need to use the hubble telescope to see the circuit.

Austin looks interesting because of the combinations of corners and the elevation changes.

To me, the design looks very similar to Istanbul, just another monotonous Tilkedrome.
