Notice the 2012 spec RSR in the distance, is that Falken with new liveries or a suggestion of a new GT3 RSR team announcement?
Nice to see all the ALMS cars pushed away to the back- minus the vette of course

I'm hoping RSR comes back for the exhaust note alone, even if they retire while the race is still in diapers. As for the unannounced GTE program I would wager West Racing Lamborghini or Risi Competizione.

Hope its Risi. ALMS wont be the same without them. The ESM driver linueps jsut arent strong enough to go toe to toe with the likes of Jörg Bergmeister, Antonio Garcia, Müller, Long etc for a full race distance.

Risi is of course more likely but the West guys hinted a while ago that they might come back at some point. Not sure how they'd dare, the whole project was bit of a farce (in efx Atlas style), massive ambitions but also poor execution. The only thing I remember about their campaign last year was some Sebring onboard of GTC-class NGT Porsche and how very easily it overtook that Lambo on the straight!!

But the funniest thing is that their Lambo which only participated two races scored just five points less than the two full-season Jaguars

We will see now that Reitner have announced that he want a spot at 24 LM with a new 2012 Gallardo GTE

On that "we'll be back" message West posted a while ago they also said it' would be the same car as last year, with more power... I'm not sure how much more life they can breath to that old converted GT3 Gallardo

last year they claimed they were waiting for a new engine to arrive that was designed to GT2 specs; maybe it finally has?

They also claimed to be back at Lime Rock last year but that never really materialized, so my faith for them isn't the biggest.

Nevertheless, variety is always good and if they have really found something to boost the performance of the car, I'll welcome them back. And if RSR returns they also need someone to battle for the "backmarker trophy" now that the Robertsons are unlikely to come back and you never know about Lotus's plans...

Well, with the Robertsons at least, the pro car could be quite effective. It didn't hurt at Lime Rock that 3-4 GT2 cars knocked themselves out. Even so, the Doran Ford GTR was NOT a bad car by any means.

For sure it wasn't, and in fact the Robertsons have been my 2nd favourite team in ALMS for a some time now. That's why I'm quite saddened by the whole budget thing, especially after 2011 which proved to be their best season yet.

But let's face it, the second car raced by mr and ms Robertson was never that competitive to begin with, for obvious reasons. They usually still beat the mighty Cats though...

The "H" Craft/Doran Ford GTR IS an excellent race car. And the two cars rebuilt after Petit would be at the sharp end of the grid this year. You wouldn't believe who over the past year wanted to drive the cars if DR had the budget to run them.

If I remember correctly, the chassis wasn't GT2 spec either, just GT3 with GT2 slicks. I think that lead to the failure they had with an upright or stub axel or whatever. A Lambo in the states would be good for the series, but not their Lambo. A well funded and planned team is needed.

Alex Job to make a "shocking" GTE announcement according to Hindy in Rolex GT qualifying moments ago. Battery Tender plus an interesting factory?

Maybe a monied driver wants to go GTE racing. Perhaps there is some factory support involved. On the other hand, perhaps there are quite a few 2011 spec Porsche GTE cars available on the cheap?

Well, the ALMS website teased a manufacturer program supported by an existing series partner. Battery Tender is an existing series partner and Hindy called the GTE announcement shocking...

If AJR isn't the program trailed by ALMS, I'd like to see what they do and moreover what happens to the JDX Racing types when GTC goes away. A replacement sub-GT class? GTE-Am?

You mean this short message from december?

Quote:
2. Look for a brand new, manufacturer-backed team in GT: two cars with unprecedented sponsorship activation from an existing Series marketing partner.
In any case, as I've been saying all along AJR would be a huge asset in GT2. That's where they belong, not in some cup spec class.

phew, I was really worried that message was going to refer to the electric GT thing they mentioned before. Would make even more sense if it's described as "shocking" (sorry, I'll get my coat). Anything else would be a huge plus, would be great to see AJR back where they belong. I'm going for left field and guessing Porsche Hybrid. Anyone else?

As for the 7 P2s, I'd guess Libra and Dempsey are included but would be great to see another. If John discovered this at Daytona, I wonder if the link is to a driver or team that's present there? Suppose 'driver' doesn't narrow it down much...
