Can you imagine when it comes out of pitlane at Bathurst 09 for the first safety period? The air will be full of tinnies, some of those fans who remember 92 will try and get their own back!! Better yet still, paint it in Winfield livery.......... that'll bring back some happy memories for some people and not so happy memories for others

Seriously though I think its a good move by Nissan, at least it's better then a big boxy 4WD, it fits in with the racers in a way.

Very strange.

Good on Nissan for not holding grudges against CAMS.

Certainly a prettier car than the Chysler, and a classy and quick 'safety' car... more than capable of getting a driver into trouble as much as any racer. Sure beats the Civic hybrid or some such that is the safety car in the IRL...

Considering Nissan claims it is as quick as a Porsche GT3 at the 'Ring, and the V8's are quicker than the GT3 Cup.....Look out! The Safety Car can now actually REALLY win a race, with the fastest lap!

Don't they claim it is as quick as a GT2 or some such? Surely those semi-slicks would be less than ideal for patrolling the field in monsoonal conditions...

What semi-slicks? It runs on Dunlop or Bridgestone road tyres. They may be softer than your average roadtyre, but nothing approaching the grip of a true semi. It's been one of the problems for GTRs in Tarmac Rallies currently, no semislicks available in that size, so they run the normal roadgoing tyre.

Now wouldnt that be funny, Jim or Skaifey driving the new pace car ....(all they need is to bolt on a set of semi slicks and....)

The directive from Carlos Ghosn the boss of Nissan/Renault to the design team was that the new car has to beat a 911 Turbo around the Nurburgring.

Apparently it does......

And the Doco that was on Fox the other day proved it was quicker. Fantastic doco on the new GTR and one awesome lap of the Ring that has to be seen to be believed.

Any chance of letting us know what the exact name of that doco was and I'll have a look for it online.

'Nissan Skyline GTR' on National Geo Channel, a few weeks ago. Also search utube, a few clips on there as well.
