Both Audis are still quicker than the opposition, at what stage did the Porsches/Toyotas start closing the gap in Austin? If the temperature drops considerably during the next hour, presumably we'll see a change in performance.

Designed and built by the same people who did the Peugeot 908 I think. That was always having headlight issues.

Agreed. I'll watch anything. I tried FE. It was so so boring.

Audi has built an extra 20s gap during the past hour of racing.

That temperature change is really slowing down the Audis.

Sarcasm is a wonderful thing

But back to being serious, the Audis seem to be coping much better with the lower temperatures now than they did at Austin. Maybe the track temp isn't that low yet?

Just as the engineers finally get a handle on the car, it's not going to be raced again...

Edit - Confirmed, the track is still rather warm.

Not sure. A further 2 degrees Kelvin lost on track temp. Let's see how this evolves. The current 28 deg C doesn't seem to hurt Audi - yet. Still posting the fastest times.

At 20 seconds an hour on the #1 Porsche, that won't happen.

EDIT

####! Of course, 20x6 = 120 and 1'40 is only 100 (and not 140). So at this rate it may well happen.

We'll, it's close enough that it could happen. 20 seconds an hour is 1 minute by half way and 2 minutes by 6 hours. The lap is less than 2 minutes long. Give or take a few seconds in pit stops and traffic and it might happen.

Edit: you exited your post as I typed. :P

Well the gap from the #8 to the #1 is 44s, which would be ~17.5s/hr given we are 2 1/2 hours in. At that rate, the gap would be almost exactly 1m 45s at the end.

So assuming the rate of departure does not decrease, it's on - just.
