Great to hear that the v8s have been confirmed a round in NZ till 2014.

Maybe one day they will race on the new track about to be constructed south of Auckland.

Nicko: Don't read into the 10 year deal too much, as it seems to be subject to satisfying AVESCO.

Satisfaction means a street race and when that happens a new circuit will flourish due to the sport getting a heightened sense of awareness by being the face of an audience that may not ordinarily travel out of their way to see our great sport.

As for the chance of the cars racing on Hampton Downs, I would not hold out a lot of hope as it will be hard to build a better spectacle than a street race and we have yet to see if the Meremere Taniwha ("Tan-e-far" - a Maori mythical monster for you Aussies ) will actually stop engines at random intervals or create general mayhem.

As an aside, there is almost irony in the Hampton Downs name, as Manfeild Park Raceway was originally to be built in the warmer and drier Hawke's Bay at Tikokino ("Tick-o-key-no" for you Aussies ). The original name for Tikokino was Hampden....!

Depends JDI, the Canberra street race was signed to a pretty long deal from memory, in fact I think it was up for renewal this year, anyone hear how negotiations are coming along?
