New real Circuit: Hampton Downs Raceway

I have seen this in the Autosport and I made a rough drawing on paint. The circuit is located near wellington in Zew Zeland. The circuit will be 1.8 miles long with two short 0.75 mile layouts. The track has already been visited by the FIA and has been rewarded a grade 2 license. The track will be bidding for A1GP and the V8 Supercar championship. The track should be finnished for 2006.

The circuit is actually about an hour South of Auckland or about 7 hours North of Wellington.
I am not sure what the FIA have visited as I don't even think a piece of turf has yet been turned over, so 2006 is a tad optimistic!

Autosport are reporting incorrectly then. There is no track to visit although they could possibly inspect the portaloo that is being used by the security guard who's keeping watch over the field.

From that map it doesn't look like a great circuit. T2 (the big 200 degree corner) looks ok and fairly fast but the rest of it just looks borning with loads of hairpins and 90 degree corners that are slow and from experience don't lead to good racing.

Even though there will be a lot of elevation change I still think that the middle section will be just too slow.

Simply put, it's a **** circuit. They had the opportunity to create something really good.
