Well, Ambrose suffers another poor finish, dropping him to 31st in points, but he is still 205 points ahead of 36th. This should at least offer some comfort to you guys that he probably won't fall out.

Oh ****, that's all I have to say:
UPDATE 2: NASCAR has issued penalties, suspensions and fines to the #38 team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as a result of rules infractions committed during last Sunday's event at Pocono Raceway. The team was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-J (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules); and 20-10.7J (unapproved modification to valve stem hardware) of the 2010 NASCAR Rule Book. As a result, crew chief Steve Lane has been fined $100,000, suspended for the next 12 NASCAR Sprint Cup events, suspended from NASCAR until Sept. 15 and placed on probation until Dec. 31. Car chief Richard Bourgeois and tire specialist Michael Harrold have also been suspended from the next 12 NASCAR Sprint Cup events, suspended from NASCAR until Sept. 15 and placed on probation until Dec. 31. Driver Travis Kvapil and owner Doug Yates have been penalized with the loss of 150 driver and 150 owner points, respectively.(NASCAR)(6-9-2010) Robby Gordon is now back in the top 35, 66 points ahead of the 38 now. Tis also brings the 26 alot closer to the top 35. Front Row, what were you thinking? |

Wow...this is close now. If Said plays his cards just right, the #26 could get back in the top 35 easily. Judging by Front Row Motorsports' past performance, I'd be very concerned if I were them:
Top-35 in Owner Points and guaranteed a starting spot at Infineon: No changes, #38-Kvapil gains a point on #7-Gordon bur is still out of the top 35. 32) #34-Conway/Front Row: 1112, +117 33) #37-Kvapil/Front Row: 1109, +114 34) #71-Labonte/TRG: 1109, +114 35) #7-Gordon/RGM: 1060, 65 points ahead of 36th these teams/ drivers must qualify by speed: 36) #38-Gilliland/Front Row: 995, 65 points out of the top 35 37) #26-Said/Stremme/Latitude43: 982, -78 The teams are NOT locked in past the next race as the owners points change after each race. For the owner points standings, see my Owners Points Standings page.(6-13-2010) |

Nice jobs by Robby and Boris:
Top-35 in Owner Points and guaranteed a starting spot at New Hampshire: No one moved in to or out of the top-35, but the #26 moved up to 36th & the #38 to 27th, #7 moved from 35th to 32nd with the 2nd place finish. 32) #7-Gordon/RGM: 1230, +101 33) #71-Labonte/TRG: 1203, +74 34) #37-Kvapil/Front Row: 1200, +71 35) #34-Conway/Front Row: 1191, 62 points ahead of 36th these teams/ drivers must qualify by speed: 36) #26-Stremme/Latitude43: 1129, 62 points out of the top 35 37) #38-Gilliland/Front Row: 1101, -90 |

right now, it seems for RGM, it is all about the points and scratching and clawing just to stay afloat. perhaps, slightly off topic, but how much money do you save, barring a crash if you just S&P verses running the entire race? fuel, tires wear and tear etc for a full event has to have a price tag. one would think the trip is to merely stay in the top 35, but struggling with a sponsor, paying Ted Musgrave for the weekend and all the other "travel"; would it be better off just sitting out, points aside? thinking, questioning and posting at the same time, mind you...always dangerous. |

Traditional S&P teams seem to show up with a crew of 6 or so, and have no real infrastructure in place to run for the weekend. Presumably the car with perhaps only 50 laps on it across a weekend can run all the same running gear the very next weekend. Tyres saved, engine rebuild averted etc etc That a number of teams do this suggests that the NASCAR starting money is good enough to cover costs... or is it a ploy to try and attract sponsorship by telling prospective investors that the car/team runs full series? hrug: |
