I am not sure - it's just a club meet (not BHC) so he probably won't be there.

The Australian hillclimb championship is a ounce a year event held over three days, it is rotated between four states up and down the east coast of Austalia, the hillclimb at Bathurst starts at the top of conrod strait and runs the wrong way up through the dipper, esses and skyline, finnishing at Mc Phillamy park. The AHC is the biggest weekend in hillclimbing and decides the Australian hillcimb outright champion.
I think martin will be back, clearly unfinnished buisness over here, martin when last here stated that if he had his car, another second was possible.

The cost of getting there alone would be prohibitive but it is a shame none the less..

yes, cost is often the reason given for people not going the other way too. Would be good to have a few more over for the opening of the Haunted Hills track as well or the champs. Those who are interested can rent various cars as per the UK.

The advantage we have Neil is that the Brits get here and find our cost of living is much easier on the wallet than theirs....they probably have more competion to choose from for airline flights as well!!...we are still a long way from anywhere though

Actually looking back on my 4.5 years living and working in the UK post graduation I can see that I was too interested in finding real cider and ale and girls and not enough on looking at motorsport on the continent etc. Ryanair was found far too late...i.e. when I had a pregnant wife with me.
Our cost of living advantages are partly offset by the local travel etc, but I do not want to get into a ours vs. them discussion, no one wins that discussion. I would welcome any british driver that wants to come and drive in the AHCC and if Martin comes and wins by a sec then it simply sets the bar a bit higher and in a couple of years we will be past it, it seems to be what happens.
David Gould was a very refreshing man to speak to and interview. I believe that Ron Tauranac is designing a bike engine hill climb car and that it might be ready for this champs. He and Gould met at Bathurst last time it ran there.

That's funny cos all my Australian friends do is whinge about the cost of living! Wages have not gone up for a while, from what I understand.

Of course it all depends which currency you are spending (in which nation)..

Its natural for people to whinge the world over....however, when Brits come out here and see 1/2 price petrol and (for example) a magnificent prime Angus steak at GT Angus Bar & Grill, 73 William Street, Bathurst, ph:02 6331 1264 for the equivalent of about ten quid ...no contest!!

Actually when I was in the UK one thing I hated was the 'oh you're from the colonies' line, more so for the display of ignorance or fumbling attempt to sneer. I'm sure that the Brits equally hate the 'things are better...etc'
I would love the top 3 UK guys plus some of the Europeans to make the trip...

Maybe if the organisers paid for the cars to be shipped out you'd see them.

275, but a steak here costs around £10-15 at not too posh restaurant or pub especially outside of the capital . I still can't believe the cost of a mars bar there.. must be about $2 these days?
