Geva racing should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
We can almost safely say that the BTCC is out as far as Supertouring is concerned but what about all the spare cars?

These drivers are suspected to enter the final race of the european championship:

Tommy Rustad Nissan Primera
Carl Rosenblad Nissan Primera
Jan Nilsson Volvo S40
Mattias Ekstrom Volvo S40
Matt Neal Nissam Primera
Yvan Muller Vauxhal Vectra
Gabrielle Tarquini Honda Accord

The Prodrive cars are also suspected to enter but that is still unsure.

All the stated drivers except Tarquini have been send to check the European Championship out for a possible Move next year and Tarquini will be sent to help Peter Kox's Championship bid.

What do you think about that!?

This is encouraging isn't it

Yes, this is very encouraging. Only 2 things can make this better!

1) Our local TV (Speedvisino) stations will carry the new series!
2) The series lasts for several more years after that! I assume the '99 cars and even older Audis/BMWs can keep up and provide us die hard fans with good racing!! =)

Also I think that if the popularity stays the same new manufacturers might think about getting involved.

A european series can reach far more people than a domestic series does.

The older cars will be updated so tha theycan keep up.

Maybe thing are looking up for the touring cars!!!!

This could in fact form the basis of a new Historic Touring Car series! Older Super Touring cars (well, they will be 'old' as of next year), all sorted out by a totally fair weight penalty system would make for a fantastic championship.

I think certain European series have proven that the older A4s and Bimmers can mix it with the newer machinery, so don't do a ToCA and not allow them to race; the more the merrier, as long as there can be put in place a fair penalty system. And who says Super Touring's dead?!

In case people are not aware, ST cars already have a separate class in the Formula Saloons. Championship. There are about 15 ST cars registered to race, about 6 show up regularly. The newest ST cars are '96 Accords that were bought for only 30-45K pounds!!

Perhaps, Formula saloons could step up further to become the "REAL" BTCC???

Check out their site at:

HEy Daniel, I thought you lived in Australia?? If so, you can't drive to England to watch the ST cars racing in the Formula saloons!

Supposedly, Pat Watts was helping one or two of the ST teams with setting up their cars at one race. I think you can buy clips or full races on video?

The problem with Formula Saloons is that they seem to be letting them muck about with the cars, instead of keeping them in their original spec. The Holden Commodore for instance is a 5.7, when it should be a 5 litre. We have the same problem here in Aust, one day when Group A cars are deemed old enogh to be eligible for Historic Touring Car racing, there will be few left because they have all been chopped up to make sports sedans. The Group C touring car series is really struggling now for the same reason.

Well, considering that Formula saloons is trying to appeal to as many cars, teams and fans as possible, I guess they have to bend the rules a bit? Luckily, the ST class has been left untouched as far as I know. At present, they only up to '96 spec cars.
