Jaguar XF 5.0 Litre V8 specification

hi guys,

I'm doing an assignment for university on engine design and I need to find out the details of the Jaguar listed above.

the only details that I need to find out now are the:
  • Valve Sizes
  • Valve timing
  • Con-rod length

If anyone has any idea of a website that would supply the open public with such information it would be great.

Cheers

Probably just a typo, but it's a 5.0 litre not a 5.9.

Not sure of the best route for that info. There are a couple on here who race Jags who may be able to point you in the direction of a Jag technical forum. Otherwise, might be easiest to contact Jaguar UK directly - I'm sure they'd be happy to help.

Thanks for the typo spotting.

I'll try that then.

How do you edit the title?? Or does a moderator have to??

I figured out a way to find the valve sizes, for the inlet and exhaust.

I had to find what the mean piston speed was then. Which to find that i had to find the RPS @ max then multiply that by the stroke length then multiply that by 2.

That gave me 20.14 m/s

Then I had to plug that information into a excel spreadsheet that gave me the inlet/exhaust diameters for the valve sizes.

n.b. My lecturer helped me in making the excel spreadsheet to aid me in compiling all of the formulas needed into the spreadsheet.
