Based upon a detailed re-evaluation of who has what when I think that we can conclude the following about B25s, even if we can't yet put chassis numbers to them
The Webb car [which I now think was either chassis 6 or chassis 10 based on delivery dates and appearances for other cars] has to be the Skellern car in 1974 and sold spring 75 to Harrold McGarrity.

The Graham car has to be chassis 17 or 18 something as high as that!

The big question is the Lachaud B25 that appears at Chamrousse 29 July 73. Is this a new car or the Tondelli car?
Tondelli tests a B25 at Misano late Feb 73, Autosprint picture 26 Feb-5 Mar p. And then uses one at Fleron h/c 11.3.73 Autosprint 12-19 Mar p. 24 'con la sua Chevron F2' and Condroz 18.3 Autosprint 19-26 Mar p. 24; by 19 August Herbeumont is using B21 again
Given the known histories of the Mieusset and Maublanc cars this is either new [chassis 17 or 18]

Allen what else do you have on B25/27s in French hillclimbs?

Chris

I have three B25s in French hillclimbs in 1973. I don't have first appearance dates in my notes but I think I posted somethig on that above. It's worth noting that the one B18 and one B20 that appeared in previous years can be tracked as well so none of these B25s is that B18 or B20 updated.

1. Pierre Maublanc 1973 - Roger Rivoire 1974,1975 - 'Genillon' and J-C Dutrey 1976 (as 1600) ...
2. Jimmy Mieusset 1973 - Roger Damaisin 1974,1975 - missing in 1976 ...
3. Jean Lachaud 1973,1975,1975,1976 then moved to a B29-ROC later in 1976

No cars appear described as B27s.

The Maublanc car had a Hart, Mieusset's a BMW and Lachaud's a 'Ford'.

Chevron B25 for sale (South Africa)

Hi All

I have registered recently as I have been reading with interest some history in F2 cars and Atlantics from the 1970's.

I have in my possession this particular car which is going to be sold on our June 27th Supercar auction at Aucor.

This is quite a famous car as it is the actual car that won the 1973 champoinship driven by Ian Scheckter.

I have attached a few pics.

[Moderation Note, MagnetON: Normally we don't allow adverts, however I feel this is of significant importance and interest to this archive.]

Welcome Gavin. As you've given a full history of the car in one of the images, I reckon you can get away with it

When did you buy it from Peter Lindenberg? Or does Lindenberg still own it?

At the Gold Cup yesterday, the Malkie's had a B25 on display. I had a quick look and the plate had, I think on it, "B25-73-08". Does this make sense? I didn't feel able to spend too much time studying it..

Hi guys,

Hello John (zahistorics)

The Chevron is back with Peter Lindenberg as he is not in any hurry to sell, as he wants his price.

The reason I advertised the car on our auction is to gain exposure on the car, I also presented the car onone of our motoring TV channels which we advertise on.

For me it was an honour just to have the car with me for a few weeks as the last time I saw this car in action was in 1976

Regards

Gavin

Chevron B25

Hi All
Just came accross this thread whilst looking up some history on formula Atlantics. I grew up in Dublin and spent a lot of my early years in Mondello park and Atlantics were my passion.Iremember watching those fantastic races at the Pheonix park once a year and the sound of twenty of those cars coming through the trees was a sound to behold.
Chris Townsend your a star. Maybe a thread on B39 s or B45 s next.
Whatever happened to the ex Derek Daly ( ICI ) F2 car that Gary Gibson converted to Atlantic ?. That was a beautifull car .
Regards
Alan Langton.

Welcome Alan... like yourself many of us on here have memories of the Atlantics in Ireland that would make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. It was an amazing era, with amazing people in amazing machines. We didn't know how good we had it. Here's another thread that might interest you... and if you PM me your e-mail address I can direct you to a thread on an Irish forum which has got some amazing Formula Atlantic pictures of all the cars that you remember. Note we're not allowed to refer to other forums directly on 10-10ths

I believe that Tommy Reid may have that ICI car that Gary Gibson used to drive, or at least one of the ICI Chevrons.

RICHARD.T should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hi
I ran Gary Gibson in my F3 car at the Macau Grand Prix in 1983, I think it was 83. He was a great chap, larger than life and a lot of fun but was also a quick, inteligant driver.
So of the other drivers that I ran thought they knew it all but a F3 car has to be driven very differently from an Atlantic/F2 car which a lot of then could not get their heads around, but Gary was bright and listened and thought rather than think he knew it all. Thus, he was impressively quick at Macou as well as being fun to be with.
I can see why he is sadly missed.

Formula Atlantic

Thanks Davy and Richard for your reply;s.
Ihave sent you a pm Davy and look forward to your reply.
Nice words about Gary Gibson also. I was only a young lad in those days (late seventies ,early eighties ) but remember watching them all . Great races and great sounds.
Cheers
Alan.

# 25.73.09

I don't want to cast aspersions regarding the late Gerry Birrels works F2 car, but to my knowledge after the tragedy at Rouen when the car was returned to Bolton.
It was stripped & the remains of the car were thrown in the mill lodge at the back of the factory.

The lodge no longer exists as it was filled in & covered over quite a number of years later as it is to day.

Gerrys unfortunate practice fatality prompted D.B. to introduce forward facing struts into the cockpit area from off the drivers roll bar for this very reason on all future formula type cars from B29 on

Original B25 Factory Spec.

Whilst rumaging through old paperwork i came across this original Factory Brochure for the B25.
p.2. Shows the cars dimensions.

It might be of some use to somebody.
