peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Phillip Island The Only Future Victorian VASC Venue?? (merged x3)

PI could be victorias only championship venue

Appears that Sandown and Winton are not locked in going forward

V8 Supercars would be stupid to drop Winton and Sandown rounds.

While Sandown is still active as a race circuit, wouldn't you use it?

Perhaps another street race in a third world country?

Maybe they could do a street race in Geelong...oh, wait....
Maybe they could make the GP a points paying round...oh, wait...

I feel for Winton, it seems like every two or three years the V8s give a list of reasons why they shouldn't go there instead of all the reasons they should be there.

I think thats whats the article said about Sandown. They expect to lock in another contract, but going forward Sandown will be gone due to its closure,

As for Winton, Well many people are on here are always on about government support for permanent tracks, Seems they have ally in Warburton. Rather than be critical, all motorsports fans should be behind him on this.

How about some Supercar support for Winton?

Maybe match dollar for dollar with the government?

Sandown To Close??

Story Here

The land around the circuit is clearly worth too much to stay as its current development level

Wonder if they could relocate the grandstand to Phillip Island?

It makes you think about all the money spent on temporary circuits and what will happen when that spending comes to an end.

Lack of investment in permanent facilities will haunt the sport we love over the next 30 to 50 years.

That'd be more than fair, surely, considering one of the only meetings the upgrades V8SC are seeking at Winton are for their annual visit there anyway.

But do V8SC have that kind of coin in their coffers....

Never ceases to amaze how an administration that is so big on trumpeting how successful it is, is perennially turning up with its hand out. The constant 'kick in or else' mantra is wearing a bit thin, the NSW government calling V8SC's bluff it by refusing to continue bankrolling Homebush. It's not as if prospective promoters are knocking the door down to stage events.

Why are you so surprised at something as common as wind and rain? In the recent West Australian State budget Crown Cassino were given an $18m tax break designed to help attract high-roller gamblers. The treasurer then said "We did nothing more than match what they did at the casino in Melbourne and Sydney".

Well actually in Melbourne it was something like $250m and it was from a fricking caretaker government.

Supercars hold an event there each year that pumps more money into the circuit than anyone else. Should they pay more?

I'd love to see the figures of what each party makes. I bet you will find the circuit is on the wrong end of the stick.

I know of someone who was/is involved with Winton and by the time they paid the V8 sanction fees there wasn't much left over.

Right.... So why self promote then, They could just take a track rental like other tracks and let v8 supercars promote

Still not sure why your not rapt that v8 supercars are going into bat for Winton to get government funding for improvements, Something Winton have been crying for for years.

Instead just more v8 supercar criticism

Improved facilities, spectator mounds, toilets, camping, access, parking etc. All are below Sandown and PI standard

Satisfied?

Interesting to Note that Australian superbikes is back at Winton this year after an 8 year absence.

Why is it back, after lobbying by Winton Raceway and V8 Supercars Winton finally received some state government funding allowing improvements to be made to the track. Interesting to Note that the recent government funded upgrades were expected to increase patronage by 40%

But dont worry, according to some, Only VASC benefit from the improvements. I think we can put that simplicity argument to bed
