Dessert [iV8SC14R29] Wilson Security Sandown 500, 12-14 Sep

Its time for the Pirtek season of endurance, kicking off with the Sandown 500, this year presented by Wilson Security.

Lots of damaged cars to repair after Eastern Creek, plenty of drivers that need to get into an endurance groove too.

Not long now til Sandown...

Wonder if Dragon are going to try and make the grid there?

Meantime... who has a good shot here...

Can FPR come back from the dead to get competitive again, or is the championship now already decided?

Hard to go past #1 at the moment, Mr Whincup seems to have plenty of good fortune along with his skills... and Mr Dumbrell is quick in his Dunlop series campaign.

TSR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I know one thing it wont be a blue oval race win.They have nothing atm

Pro Racer should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
For mine the favourites would be in no particular order: #1, #888, #2, #22 #5, #55, #6 & #33.

this time of year is my favourite, love the enduro's.

No wonder Frosty is struggling ??
This quote from the Courier Mail on Aug 25 " I was the fastest car out there for 20 laps. I was hammered by the pit lane penalty and it was certainly a bad day, but the thing we can take out of it is that our race pace was back".

Frosty quote from V8 Supercars.com.au on Aug 27 regarding Sandown " We will be lucky to finish in the top 3 if we keep going the way we are. We are too slow, just not quick enough and you can't hold onto something when you are slow".

So what is it ????

kerb should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
and when Bathurst is done, the GC600 will really throw things out the window. last year car #1 was running away with the cup, and the beach chicane bit hard.

They must be struggling for some storylines before this weekends racing?

Apparently winning races at tracks other than Sandown counts as Sandown 500 wins??

But he didnt say they were Sandown wins, he called them pre bathurst enduro wins, which they are.

Its reasonable to compare the 500km events if you state that which is what the writer has done

It's a long bow to draw in my opinion.

What about the Sandown 500s that were held in 2001 and 2002? The writer seems to use the Sandown 6hr/3hr/400/500 event history up until 1998, and then use V8Supercar history from then on.... given the Sandown 500 continued in V8Supercars absent, i don't see how you can connect the history of the other venues V8Supercars held 500km races at.....

I guess it's lucky for the writer that Brock didn't win either of the 500km pre-Bathurst enduro's in 1977 or 1978

Speedcafe suggesting last years minimum pit stops may be re-introduced again this year

Personally i thought they already were, however the rules had excluded the enduros from this

Yep, that's the smart way to do it. You can compare speed, fuel economy, and they can decide what to do re Bathurst.
