Severe man flu may be something else this year.

Novo virus!

Apparently very sudden and very vicious for 2 days and then not great for a few more.

If you have it you won't feel live driving but even so don't let anyone else take you anywhere.

It's much the same here.

I wonder if the local authorities got around to gritting the motorways appropriately last night?

After the M5 closure (due to black ice) fiasco a couple of days ago and the A40 pile up (reportedly due to black ice even though the reports say the road was gritted) yesterday one has to wonder what "special" circumstances caused the road safety people to, seemingly, get things wrong.

In the case of the A40 it seems it is easy to blame fog and therefore the drivers not driving to the conditions. But if black ice is involved unexpectedly it's difficult to make that claim with any certainty.

I wonder how the M1 was this morning? Is there enough grit in stock to keep it ice free? Would an attempt to get to the Ace have ended up as a dangerous adventure suitable only for Scandinavian rally drivers?

Well think of poor old Mike and Graham, drive all the way from Norfolk to spend a few hours talking to Bauble. Not much of a return for the trouble taken to turn up, I at least had two people to chat with they only had one.

Pretty miserable turn-out all-in-all, not really worth the bother.

Where were all those posters who voted for the 29th? I don't think any of us three did.

Anyway we all enjoyed our day out.

Iain; Not much of a group to take a picture of.

And the same back to you, and thanks for the jokes and good banter.

Where the dickens were all the others though ???? I did not expect hoards to be coming, but for it just to be the three of us was, to put it mildly, very disappointing.

The weather for the 200 mile round trip was nigh on perfect with wall to wall sunshine and 10 degrees, which behind the "Ace" windows felt more like 70.

Sadly, my first and last time.

Thanks once again Bauble and Mike.

Received an email first thing to say that I had a win on last night's lottery, so was feeling rather excited. I must say the £25 will be well useful......

Anyway, I digress. Maybe time to knock the Xmas meet on the head. I've made the effort to attend all of the Ace gatherings to date, enjoyed them all, even with just the 3 of us this time. Not sure if anywhere nearer to home does such excellent 'bubble and squeak'! (You can keep your American hash browns......)

RIP Tenths Historic tenthers get-together......

Oh, and thanks to Bob and GT for your amusing company today, and the latter for chauffeur duty!

Maybe you guys should fly south and have the winter meet down here in sunny Spain next year, I could walk down the road and join you !

Actually Luton is a pretty good venue in regard to holding a 'Get-to-gether',with excellent road, rail and air access, as well as being pretty central.
A quick dash down the M1 for some, an easy trip around the M25 for others, even a handy airport for the likes of John and Gordon.
Sorry about the more Easterly types, as cross country is not ideal from Norfolk, however I can get to Snetterton in 90 minutes in my old Astra, so it should not be too onerous for the better equipped types.

Just let me know the date and I'll sort out a venue, Chinese, Indian, Thai, Polish no problem.

Luton Airport? Wasn't there a song about that?

Actually having an airport is one thing, having a flight that actually goes there is another. I don't suppose there is a regular service to Le Touquet, is there?

An even better solution - my village hostelry re-opens tonight after a three-year make-over. I can walk there in 10 minutes & you can all come & enjoy some excellent Anglo-French hospitality! We've even got a race track (Croix- en-Ternois).
