Marshals wanted - Rockingham 3rd/4th September (plus birthday drinks)

Hi all,

Racing side first - The SCSA race meeting at Rockingham in September will feature racing on the infield circuit from the ever spectacular Legends and Mini Miglias, as well as the equally close fought Pick-Up Trucks and the SCSA stock cars on the Oval. This promises to be the best meeting of the year for the series and with a bit of good weather should draw in a very good crowd. Off track entertainment includes a dragster demo, Russ Swift doing what Russ Swift does best, car club cavalcades, and fun and entertainment for all the family. Saturday is qualifying/practise and will probably include a Legends (and possibly Mini) race as well. So we need marshals for the infield circuit, switching to pit lane cover for the oval, or for thse of you who might fancy a go at observing on the oval I'm sure we'll try and get you out there to see what happens and how different it is to observing a 'normal' circuit.
SCSA are looking at going onto other circuits next year so if you want to have a look and see what they're all about in their 'natural environment' I would suggest that this is the one to go to.

Social side - It's my 30th just after this meeting so if you'd like to join some of the regulars down at the Castle Inn in Caldecott (about 10mins from the circuit) on Friday or Saturday night you're most welcome to.

Volunteers to Sara at BARC, or get in touch with me for further info

Al.

Presumably if we bring a bottle it should have a blue or cream handle???

Being serious for a mo, the last time the infield was used it was bloody hard work, but the Legends are absolutely spectacular around the oval part of the circuit, well worth the trip IMO.

Blimey! You look much older than that!

Didn't realize how much the SCSA took out of you (or was it Andy?)

Cynic - it took me a few moments but I finally got the bottle reference

Hopefully the organisers will run the infield like we did with the Porsche supports a couple of meetings ago and put Legends and Minis at the start and end of the day to save constantly swapping round (although I think the aim is 9 races, which means a Legends heat in the middle somewhere)

thepits! - with friends like these...

Just make sure that
1/ The lights don't fail, or
2/ You know where the Union Flag is quickly!
2/ You've got your Red flag ready to hand, and
3/ The 'naughty-boy' flag is ready in your back pocket!

"busy, busy, busy" - for sure!!!!!!!!

We have fancy new light switches & buttons on the gantry so there'll be absolutely no more problems, ever, ish, maybe

Anyway it's Chigley that does the stacking, I usually go and hide on the infield (except I hope to be gantry all weekend in September)

Hmm, either you're spending too much time on the gantry, or I'm getting too witty for my own good!

Oh my gawd! I would ask Fred for a transfer to an obs post, but I suspect they'll be just as busy as everyone else.

Thank you for the kind advice, but I should be in a different car soon (price of petrol being stupid-a-gallon isn't great for running a 1964 gas-guzzler to Rockingham all the time. A 306 diesel runabout ebay special is going to be heading my way in the next few days). However, a different Landy Ambulance will be in the pub car park taking my place, as Chris Scott has got his MOT'd and kitted out so he should be there in that. I'm going for the comfy bed & shower available option this time

I did end up doing some flagging last year on the infield whilst one marshal had to go "away for a moment"..always willing to help out when ever the need arises in between taking pictures!

I am going to have to miss this weekends meeting at Rockingham due to a rib injury picked up during a re-enactment gunfight. So Obs 1 is free for this weekend only
