Tommy Rustad
BTCC 1998
I was just looking at the Redshoes racing websites archieved pictures of the BTCC when I noticed something odd. Theres a picture of Tommy Rustad driving a Renault Laguna with Nescafe sponsorship, the same as the works cars. Is this just coincidence or did Rustad actuall drive for the works team at any point?? |

After DC Cook wrapped up the Indepedents championship, DC Cook released him to race for the Works team. DC Cook then had his daughter take over and do the remaining races in the Laguna.

It was a third works Laguna, though, wasn't it?

Yea, alongside Plato and Menu, although I don't think he actually did much, which cost him a small cahnce of joining the works team for the next year.

Yes, so many names were mentioned for the second Laguna in 1999, even, at one point, Johnny Cecotto (which would have been great). Yet they went for Boullion. Odd, really.

if i remember rightly he overtook Menu (and then nearly lost it in the process) and Menu didn't take too kindly to it! Then he had a big battle with Derek Warwick and got spun round at Becketts. It's on the 98 review vid. Excellent race.
