Rod Birley should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Timetable for DTRC at Silverstone is 0900 practice, first race at 1pm, second race at approx 2.50. At least it shouldn't mean a shortened second race this time. 34 entries received so far.

Bah if your second race is that early I'll probably miss the awards...Andy will have to find another glamorous assistant!!

In which case I will be about at lunchtime for people to hand me entry forms, or if you are still about at the end of racing I will be found in the bar!

Apparently they have upped the grid numbers at silverstone also. They started 38 caterhams yesterday!

Looking forward to next weekend...don't forget those entries to Snetterton if you haven't already sent them!

As of 9pm tonight, the Dunlop T&R grid is full, 40 entries (which is the circuit capacity). Some interesting new additions such as Greg Rose in the ex-Andy Rouse Mercedes 190 Evo and Nick Humprey in an Alfa Romeo, plus Richard Brent making a late start in class E.

Splendid.

And I have a new gearbox, four forward gears, silcencers, and a rad cap that should keep the water in, but not quite all together (exhuasts). Ask me tomorrow lunchtime.....

Full complement of family booked in to operate the spanners (Jasmine will colour it in with her crayons)

I've got one entry in for Snetterton, but not for DTRC yet...

Rob.

There you go, I give you the entry form in the morning, and then take it back from you in the afternoon. What a day!

Great to see everyone again. Sadly I had to go home for an early bath.

Maybe I'll come to Snetterton, I'll see how things go, all subject to parts availability.

Rob.

Left hand bank head gasket by the looks of it.

Abnormal pressure in the water system = water blown out
Also seem to have extra wind in the oil system, where I will be getting a new breather tank (a proper one, rather than a 3L JCB-GT washer bottle!!) that doesn't emit loads of snot and steam into the atmosphere.
The extra wind in the oil system seems to be blowing the oil out of the rocker cover.

If the weather's rough on Monday, I'll have a day on it, and should have it stripped down ready for medication!

New gaskets in stock at builders! Yee harrr! (not using Parcel2go to get them back to the UK - no way Jose!)

Bad Luck Rob thought that rad was way too small for that engine when I see it at Brands, did you fit a bigger one?

I am still not 100% certain my head gasket is sound on my yellow car after I cooked it at Snett although I have entered it next week at Thruxton, done all the tests including pressurising the system for a few hours then while still under pressure pulling the plugs and spinning the engine and no water in the cylinders, no oil in water or visa versa and will tick over for half hour without over heating.

If your gasket has blown into the lifter valley this will cause excess cylinder block pressure which may be causing your breather problems I had this once on a Capri V6. Why not get the gaskets from Real Steel I'm sure they will have a suitable ones in stock they stock all the specials.

Actually it started as he left the assembly area for qualifying!

Perhaps for the next round we could have a sweepstake on the amount of oil or water consumed by Rob, Graham Bahr and Andy Pipe All 3 were very smokey at one or more points during the meeting and in Graham's case it seemed terminal at the end of the 2nd DTRC race.

Not the rad. It only ran up to 180-190F over 6 laps, so would have expected 200F if kicked it harder. The oil cooler made a big difference, and I would say that the oil wasn't hot enough, but had I been happier to give it more, I'm sure it would have come up OK. I would expect 220F.

The new gaskets ain't going to cost me much as I've done a deal with the original oil pan that was on the motor when I bought it (he sells them for $500)

Just a case of time to strip the heads off, check the heads for flat....

Rob.

If Graham made the 2nd DTRC race, my hat goes off to him! Well done Graham! I thought yours was a goner at the end of qualifying.

As for the sweepstake, I'm in. I'll win everytime (especially if you we can include fuel in the list of fluids....)

Now, this 'ere avatar. My good lady wife wants the full size version of that pic....

That's the smoking gun, left hand side....... (darnit!)
