alf has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
formula first gearbox

I I have recently aquired a formula first gearbox, and wondered if anyone knew what the ratio and or final drive of such a box is. I am concidering using it in a fiesta xr2 but don't want to strip and replace a box that has the same ratio's in it as I have ( standard ) at the moment.
cheers

COLIN STUBBS should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
alf. i used to do a few first training cars and i believe at the time the boxes were totally standard ratio fiesta stuff. came out of crates which looked as if they had come off the assembly line at the factory. nobody worried about the final drive ratio as they were all the same. supposedly.....

I think they were out of Escort XR3is, you should be able to find the ratios in a Haynes manual.

I did a few sprints in a modified F.First with an HT engine. The others are correct. It is a standard box. Go for a Quaife gear kit, or, I believe, one or two gearbox people were doing a "close ratio" box based on standard gears from other boxes. A sort of mix and match. Jason Watkins has one in his Mk2 XR2 and it takes the power of a full house HT race engine
